   A real neighborhood gem. There were several large parties, and lots of small table. The decor is comfortable and colorful. The service is very friend, even when they are very busy. The food is spectacular! Try mixing the spicy pickles into your dishes (just be ready for heat).

   Roti is our go to for Indian food in the City. It is easy to get to on Muni a few steps from the West Portal station. They always have interesting and worth trying specials throughout the year. The Tikka Masala is outstanding and always worth having. The service is great, friendly, helpful and pleasant. Ask for their special red hot sauce if you want to add a kick to your meal.

   Best restaurant on West Portal. The food is consistently good and the service is always warm, friendly and efficient. A family favorite for many years.

   I shared a wonderful meal at Roti with visitors from out of town. We had lots of dishes to share and they were all delicious, and the host explained interesting details about the dishes.

   Roti was a favorite restaurant for years, well worth it to us for a trip across town to West Portal, but we haven't dined in since the pandemic. We were long overdue, and with visitors in town, made the trip. Sadly, it just wasn't the same. We ordered two starters -- onion pakoras-excellent, and calamari-not very good at all. Rubbery and almost room-temperature when they arrived. We then waited a very, very long time for our mains. Barely half the tables were occupied, so it's hard to imagine the kitchen was slammed. We shared chicken tikka masala, a shrimp vindaloo, lentils, basmati rice and garlic basil naan. The naan was limp and greasy. The rest of the dishes were fine, but nothing to get excited about. Portions seemed smaller than they used to be, so we may have underordered, but as the food was only average, we didn't order more -- went out for ice cream after instead. If this was a neighborhood spot, we might still stop in. But it's no longer worthy of a ride across town. Which is sad--our family used to love Roti. Other people must know this too -- it used to be that our only complaint was that the restaurant was too loud. Now it's very quiet.
