Our server was very nice and helpful with recommendations. She had a pleasant personality and she was knowledgeable about the wines & food. The atmosphere was descent. The table had a sticky surface but it was otherwise fine. My biggest issue was the price point for lunch. We had an appetizer of smoked wings. They had the dry rub, which for me was a bit on the salty side. I was honestly expecting a smoked flavor. That was not the case. Secondly, the price point on the salads is ridiculous. For instance paying $31 for an Asian Chopped salad with grilled shrimp is way too much. I could go to Marlow’s Tavern and get an Asian Soy Miso salad with grilled or blackened shrimp for $19 (equally as delicious, if not better). This was my first time dining at the Rowdy Tiger and probably my last. I truly believe you need to revisit your prices and judging from how empty your restaurant was, others must agree. There were 4 tables filled that day. Again, the server was great. Not thrilled with everything else though.

We were not fans of the menu change. The brunch buffet is an interesting touch but could use more variety.

Hi Gabriel! Thank you for your feedback. We wanted to let you know that the buffet was a trial run and we have listened to feedback like yours and we will be sticking with the fabulous a la carte menu moving forward. We hope to see you again soon!

Food was good but they really skimped on the tuna as I had the Thai salad with tuna.

Short version: Nice decor and location, food was decent but overpriced. Service was extremely slow and abominable! Sweet girl we had waiting on us was trying but seemed very out of her depth. The bartenders, and others on floor couldn’t care less and made it very clear. The two other tables in this empty restaurant clearly shared the same disappointment. $300 bill, hour wait for food, indifferent employees. Full explanation: Practically empty, waited several minutes to be seated, very long time to be greeted. We ordered everything at once right away ( drinks, apps, food) It still took well over 15 mins to get our drinks and they were incorrect, got appetizer fairly quickly and it was good. Not checked on again until they came back with the one corrected drink much later. It had now been about 40 mins since we ordered. We flagged down waitress and asked when the food would be out cause we really needed to get going, she checked with kitchen and said 15 more mins… that’s when we were like ok we’ll we can’t wait that long please bring check… THEN the manager ( I think ) who had been casually walking around the whole time came over and assured us it would all be out in 5. We agreed, asked for check to expedite, food came. It was pretty decent but overpriced for sure. Then we had to nag a bit to get the check and get out. All in all a shame, location was good, decor nice, food pretty good a bit expensive but if the service had been good could have probably got away with it. The girl waiting on us was sweet and seemed like she was trying but just didn’t seem to know what she was doing… ( didn’t know basic drinks, timid, etc… ) seemed like she was the hostess that was trying to help by taking tables. But honestly we all work in service and it was clear she was the only one trying. The place was empty and there were 5 ppl on the floor and all the others entire attitude was that they couldn’t be bothered… in the SLIGHTEST.

My group chose this restaurant because of the whiskey selection. We were excited for a whiskey-forward experience: unique cocktails, whiskey flights, whiskey-inspired food. What a disappointment. There were basic cocktails (old fashioned, manhattan), no flights or tastings, and a limited food menu. And, despite there being few diners and what appeared to be a full staff, our service was painfully slow. Missed opportunity on their part to capitalize on the theme.

FAQs

Yes, Rowdy Tiger can be a strong date-night choice thanks to its stylish Midtown vibe, whiskey-forward cocktail list and cozy rooftop option. Guests praise the atmosphere, desserts and some servers for attentive service, and the menu has shareable starters and hearty mains like Shrimp & Grits. Note: service has been inconsistent in some reports and special nights (Valentine’s) can be busy, so consider a reservation and an earlier seating for a smoother evening.

Portions are generally standard for a casual Southern kitchen, mains and handhelds look substantial, but some guests felt certain dishes were skimpy or overpriced (one guest said the tuna in a Thai salad was sparse; others called salads pricey). If you’re sharing starters or want a hearty meal, mains like Shrimp & Grits, burgers and steak-style entrées are filling choices.

Several guest favorites stand out: the Shrimp & Grits is frequently praised for flavor and creamy grits, crispy Brussels sprouts (with feta and pecans) drew high praise, and desserts, especially the chocolate cake and strawberry-and-crème cheesecake, get rave reviews. The menu also highlights Southern mains like braised short ribs and Smothered Cornish Hen as strong choices.

Rowdy Tiger serves three dayparts: breakfast, lunch/brunch and dinner. Typical hours are: Breakfast Mon–Fri 6:30–10:00 am (Sat–Sun 7:00–11:00 am); Lunch Mon–Fri 11:30 am–3:00 pm; Brunch Sat–Sun 12:00–3:00 pm; Dinner daily 5:00–10:00 pm. For holiday hours or special events, call ahead.

For a lively weekend brunch or rooftop experience, visit on Saturday or Sunday during brunch hours. If you prefer a quieter meal, weekday lunch or early weekday dinner tends to be calmer, multiple guests reported seeing the restaurant fairly empty at off-peak times. Plan ahead for holidays and special events (Valentine’s Day was busy) and reserve if you want a specific time.

The atmosphere is stylish and Southern-casual with a roaring-20s, whiskey-bar vibe, guests frequently praise the decor, rooftop views and refreshing ambiance. Service experiences vary in reviews (some guests loved attentive servers; others reported slow or indifferent service), but the dining room and bar are generally described as comfortable and lively when busy.

Casual dress is the stated policy, guests typically wear smart-casual attire. The restaurant’s relaxed vibe makes it a good fit for date nights, brunch or a night out at the whiskey bar without formal dress requirements.

Yes, the menu includes vegetarian and vegan-friendly items (Black-Eyed Pea Burger, Tofu Jambalaya, Power Bowl, various salads and healthy plates). Many dishes also lend themselves to lighter or gluten-free choices, though the menu doesn’t list explicit gluten-free labels. If you have strict dietary needs, call ahead and the kitchen can often accommodate or recommend suitable dishes.

Yes, the restaurant asks that larger parties (7+) contact them directly for reservations and arrangements. Guests have tried emailing for special requests (one reported not receiving a reply for a birthday request), so for guaranteed attention call the restaurant or mention requests when booking. Staff will often accommodate dietary needs or celebration details when given notice.

Generally yes for casual family meals, but Rowdy Tiger leans adult with a strong cocktail and whiskey program. The casual dining menu includes approachable items (handhelds, pancakes, Shrimp & Grits, breakfast plates) that work well for older kids and teens. There’s no explicit kids’ menu listed, so for younger children consider an earlier seating or call ahead to confirm accommodations.

Rowdy Tiger gets busiest for special occasions and holidays (Valentine’s Day was noted as busy) and during weekend brunch hours. Several guests reported quieter visits during off-peak times, weekday lunches and early dinners can feel calm. If you want a lively scene, aim for weekend brunch or weekend evenings; for a quieter experience, visit midweek or earlier in the evening.

It depends on your goals: choose Saturday or Sunday for rooftop brunch and a lively weekend scene; pick a weekday (lunch or early dinner) if you prefer a quieter table and faster service. If you want a romantic or special-occasion meal, plan ahead for holiday evenings like Valentine’s Day when they run preset menus.

Yes, Rowdy Tiger accepts private parties and notes that groups of seven or more should contact the restaurant directly to arrange reservations or private events. For specific private dining rooms, capacities and menus, call the restaurant to discuss options.

They have operated for special occasions (one guest reported a Valentine’s Day preset menu), which suggests they do open for some holidays and special events. Holiday hours aren’t listed in the standard schedule, so call ahead to confirm service on specific public holidays.

Yes, Rowdy Tiger runs special menus and experiences such as a Valentine’s Day preset menu (appetizer, entrée, dessert per guest) and weekend brunch pitchers (Mimosa, Pamplemosa, Bloody Mary). They also promote rooftop events and seasonal cocktail programs. For current specials, check with the restaurant or their booking channels.
