Rumi's Kitchen first opened more than a decade ago in Atlanta, the result of years of development by Chef / Owner Ali Mesghali. Showcasing the flavors of Iran -- fresh herbs, kabobs cooked over an open-fire grill -- quickly won loyal guests at the original location in Sandy Springs, GA and set us on pace to open our first restaurant outside of Georgia in 2020. Rumi was a 13th-century Persian poet whose words and life teach us how to find inner peace, happiness and love. We invite you to Rumi’s Kitchen where fresh, healthy food and attentive Persian hospitality await you.

The food was excellent and the portions are sizable enough to take home. We were there for lunch and we didn’t have to strain to have a conversation.

Rumi’s is a favorite in DC. Love the food. Service is great. It’s a guaranteed good time.

Wait was over 25 mins - for a reserved table; food was overly salty; the restaurant has lost its pleasant welcome and class. The teenagers working the front - need a lesson in handing customers - without rolling their eyes, cursing on the side, and being angry at customers; even the manager who is stressed - all need a 101 in refresher on welcome and fostering or managing stress. Save your money and find a joyful experience elsewhere.

Simply excellent. A great place to get away with friends and enjoy some of the best Mediterranean food in the DMV!

Really happy about my girl date with a good friend. We tried so many things, and had prosecco and a cocktail each. The service felt very special. It was fortunate to be able to go in the afternoon while it was quiet. The vibe was still cool, and it was not loud, which I would be worried about later in the evening. Our server (started with "Hi" in his name...) was sweet and helpful and fun. We each had a great to-go package to bring home with leftovers. The bread was great, the falafel, the kabobs, the little platter with herbs, cheese, radish was sort of like a multipart do it yourself amuse bouche. Also, the eggplant app was warm and superb for a cool afternoon. Unexpected and tasty. Hope to return!

Rumi’s food hasn’t disappointed! This was my 6th visit, 4th at this location. The food is amazing! Well seasoned and so much variety! The Chilean sea bass is my favorite. I had a table reservation, was waiting at the bar they were running behind on the tables. Chris at the bar was wonderful! Give that man a raise! He was so knowledgeable and his recommendations were on point! I decided to stay at the bar for dinner. Chris had great service, was friendly and professional! He made the experience even better!

Amazing dinner! We will absolutely return whenever we’re in the city. Pleasant, knowledgeable, and very accommodating server (so wish I remembered her name. Howard University alum.) Please consider adding the chicken and Koobidah combo to the menu.
