For ninety-eight years, New York's defining cultural moments have taken place at Russian Tea Room. Ever since members of the Russian Imperial Ballet founded the restaurant in 1926, it has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite-an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians, and businessmen planned their next deals and feted their friends' latest Carnegie Hall performances.

The maitre d was fantastic. He went out of his way to tell us about the history of the Russian Tea Room, checked in on us, and offered to take family photos. The food was great. Every dish well prepared and tasted great. My only complaint was the timing. The appetizers came out fairly quickly and then there was a long gap before the main course arrived. Even by European standards it was quite a wait.

It’s an iconic restaurant. A beautiful space and we’re lucky to still have this restaurant. But the service was not good on this evening. Other tables seated after our party received their meals. Waitress forgot to have tea delivered to our table. There was very long lag before our table was checked on, we had wanted to order more tea and desserts but the wait became too long. Other tables around us were checked on. So it’s seems there may have been a shortage of staff and we weren’t the waitress’ normal table, but it did put a damper on the experience. A beautiful restaurant, food was fine, just the service disappointed.

Poor inattentive service. Thanksgiving dinner very overpriced for chewy 3 slices of turkey.Only red beets soup was ok. Chicken kotlet was DROWN IN OIL the same as potatoes and 1 tiny branch of broccoli. My for was sliding due to oil all over plate. Nalesnik- desert crapes was just quarter of banana wrap in cold crape completely tasteless. Worst I ever have anywhere.145 dollars for not justifying for this. Cheapest glass whine 20 dollars. If you want champagne for 1600 that is a good place. Would never want to go there even if ambience is nice.

Decepcionante. Servicio y atención malos. Precio realmente exorbitado en relación a la calidad y cantidad. Un atraco. Y encima te exigen propina. Una pena.

The food was delicious and the staff were kind. They helped make our seating needs happen and manager took time to talk to us about the pictures around our part of the room. Toward the end of the night, a server helped narrow down a tea choose for a teen in our party. I loved how several of them took time to make the evening special. It was a fun bucket list check off for my husband.

Terrific food - we ordered the afternoon tea. Really subpar service. Had to ask multiple times for very basic things.
