Saffron serves an eclectic mixture of traditional Indian Cuisine punctuated by the flavors of the Himalayas. Our food stand true to its roots and origin while we source most of our produce locally. All dishes, sauces, naans and desserts are made in house from scratch. We are proud to be the first restaurant in Austin with a dedicated Nepalese menu. Nepal is a land of many flavors, while many of its dishes are indigenous and indicative of its culture and people, while few are inspired by its immediate neighbors, India and China. Our Nepalese menu is a thoughtful mix of both.

Tandoori Treasures

A tandoor is a traditional clay oven. It utilizes a combination of radiant heat, hot air cooking and smoking. Breads are slapped to the inner wall of the oven whereas marinated meats and vegetable are skewered and lowered in the center. This type of cooking imparts a distinctive flavor to the meats that can't be matched.

Once again, Saffron did not disappoint! We've been several times and it's always so delicious. Strip mall atmosphere but really good Indian food. We started with the Saffron Scallops, perfectly cooked in a buttery saffron sauce. We brought the rest of the sauce home with some extra Garlic Naan and ate every drop. Entrees were Murg Shahi Korma (boneless chicken in a creamy cashew and pistachio sauce) and Madras Chicken (cubes of chicken cooked in a coconut and tomato concoction) and they were both excellent. We ordered them both "medium" but the Madras came out pretty hot (about a 6/10) and Shahi was fairly mild (about a 3 or 4/10. As usual, we took all the leftovers home and had two more small meals. Good value as the total, including generous tip and two beers was $95, which is great for Austin and the quantity/quality of the food. We'll be back when we want delicious Indian food.

So far the highest quality Indian in Austin. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Lovely small Indian fusion restaurant. The waiter was so kind and attentive. The food is amazing!! And the reasonable pricing made the dinner that much better.

All dishes we tried were very good. Saffron exceeded our expectations. Service was exceptional. We’re looking forward to returning soon.

We love Saffron! And Bose is our favorite waiter (they are all nice, but we always look forward to seeing Bose). The food is perfection , ambience pleasant. Mushroom appetizer is a fav, and be sure to get a mango lassi!

Our family had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We highly recommended. The price is amazing. The service is incredible. The portion sizes are abundant. Please go and do yourself a favor and get the garlic NAAN.

This place is a hidden gem. The quality of the food, the preparation and the prices are all outstanding. They could work on their beer / wine / liquor offerings but the only complaint I have is that every time I go here they have the Hindi music playing so loudly that you can’t really have a conversation without shouting. It cheapens what is otherwise an elegant, near fine-dining dinner experience.
