   I had high hopes for Salt & Brick, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the expectations. While the ambiance was cozy, the service wasn’t the best. Ordered appetizers that came out one by one. Then ordered a number of mains and side dishes that would be shared and the sides were delivered about 5 mins before the 20 oz sirloin main dish. I am hoping this was just a miss experience and next time will be better.

   Two of us had duck, the meat was good but the vegetable broccolini was cold and tough. When I told them they gave us a complimentary dessert. They charged us incorrectly for the gst. When I questioned it the waitress said oh the bottle of wine is not gst holiday which is incorrect. We were charged 12.90 gst when it should have been about 2 dollars. It was very noisy with loud music.

   Excellent service and food. Only drawback was how close the tables for 2 are to each other.

   It seemed to be a novel experience, however, the shared menu items were not proportionately sized for sharing with 4 people at a table. A bit disappointing in this regard.

   Our first visit, the concept was bit confusing ( the part of taking away/ adding a dish ) From the first bite of the elk tatar , sashimi (best ever eaten) followed by roasted cabbage, short rib over polenta, duck and sole we were in gourmet heaven! This was the best meal in 2024! My only struggle was trying to converse with my company over the loud music.

   Food and service were excellent. Best flavours and presentation I’ve experienced in a long time. Only small comment is that the tables for two are too close together; a bit more space between tables would be nice. Otherwise a fantastic experience.

   I had an amazing Boxing Day dinner with server Cody. Cody gave exceptional service and had lots of knowledge about the menu. We started with the dish: Zucchini and Truffle Arancini. It had some walnut spread at the bottom and it complimented together perfectly. Then we moved on the Mafaldine Alla Vodka dish. The mafaldine pasta was delicious, a great switch up from other pastas. It came with a chunk of Burrata cheese on top. Again, so yummy! Our main dish was The Whole Lemon Sole. Upon serving our fish, they cut open and hand picked the skeleton out! Ended the night with 2 desserts: ChristMint Cheesecake Tree and Bourbon w Irish Eggnog Ice Cream

   The food was wonderful and the ambience as well. Portion sizes need to be increased, particularly pasta portions where the cost to do so is minimal. All portions are exceedingly small, especially fish for$65 for 4” portion of flounder .

    Lexi made our evening fun and light! She knew the menu well and was great with questions. The family style dining was perfect. We enjoyed the Flat Iron and Half Chicken entrees. Both were cooked to perfection! We will be back. Thanks to all staff but especially Lexi!! Merry Christmas! Lee
