Salt Yard Borough offers a delightful tapas experience in a lively atmosphere near Borough Market. Known for its "amazing sharing plates" and "superb service," it's a popular choice for both casual meals and special occasions. While the food and service receive high praise, some find prices steep and certain dishes underwhelming.

A treat for a friend at Christmas. The menu (the 2 versions on our table) were not particularly clear. We started with a mixed meat and cheese board, which wasn't on the menu. £28 seems a little steep for a few slices of meat and a small selection of cheeses. We went on to order a number of dishes for mains. Croquettes were really tasty, however at £9.00 for 4 small ones seems a little over priced. The patatas bravas left a lot to be desired. The prawns pil pil lacked chilli and garlic and the slow cooked saddle of beef was very tasty but there wasn't much to it. The cheapest wine was £45 per bottle, which tasted nice but not worth the money. We could not fault the service and I hope the staff DO get the share of the 12.5%. Overall I would not consider this good value for money. If you work in the area and are happy to pay £200 for a tapas meal for 3 with 2 bottles of wine, then good on you.

Salt yard is an absolute banker for all food tastes. After recently sharing the delicious and incredibly generous taster menu at the Fitzrovia restaurant, I invited my vegetarian friend to the Borough one. She and I shared equally tasty vegetarian plates. Away from the madding crowd it is a place of total solace, from the food to all parts of the dining experience.

Food is a little limited in my opinion. They have massive sharing steaks on the board but nothing really for 1 person. Ordered the chicken skewer (from the mains) but can with no real accompaniment. But additional flatbread came very quickly. Most bizarre was that it was cheaper to order wine by the glass than by the carafe or bottle. (First time I’ve fond a restaurant doing that) On the plus the food is very well cooked and the ambiance and service is great

The ambiance is modern and nice. I reserved a table and was directed to sit at the bar. The steak tartar we very good, but the patatas bravas were overcooked and bland. The grilled cabbage was swimming in butter and unappetizing.

Went for a Sunday afternoon meal, in a two. Food was nice but service pretty poor to be honest. Waitress very unbothered and not overly helpful explaining the menu and how it all worked. Also brought the bill when we were finished or had asked for it, which was odd. Food was good, ambience and location superb. Service really poor
