Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.

The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Phenomenal. The food is delicious, the service is always professional and the ambience feels like an authentic New York-Italian restaurant.

I could not be happier with our many experiences at Sammie’s. The food is consistently fantastic, the service is incredible and the atmosphere is so fun! It’s always a treat to come here and cannot wait to come back!

Best Italian spot in Austin! Mozzarella sticks are a must! Definitely will be going again soon or whenever I’m in a pasta mood! 😎

Overall was a mediocre experience. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants and sad to say the waiter I had definitely made an impact on my experience. It will be hard to want to go back if this is what they are setting as a standard now. The food is absolutely phenomenal. The ambience of the restaurant is definitely amazing. Unfortunately, the waiter we had, had no personality, no energy, very bland and definitely made it seem like we were just more of a hassle. My drinks went empty several times and my check came quicker than the food, I felt like I was being pushed out. Getting reservations here is extremely difficult as you have to plan ahead so I was expecting nothing but the best experience. Sadly, this was not the case for us. We left disappointed in the service and the experience, but the food was delicious. Hopefully management can see this and make the corrections that need to be made here.

Service was good. Benches are not comfortable. The food was a little disappointing. The restaurant is super loud. If you want an energetic place, this fits the bill.

Sammies is a gem. Food is amazing. Had the Cacio e Pepe and the veal chop. Both amazing. Server was terrific. Love the ambience.

It’s always a treat. The Friday Jazz Lunch was very nice. Per usual the service & ambience are top notch. I recommend sharing the career salad, calamari & mozzarella sticks. The pastas are fresh, go simple with the Caciao de Pepe 🤌🏽 wrap it up with a NY cheesecake.

Great experience from start to finish! When I made the reservation, only outdoor tables were available so I left a comment requesting to be moved inside if anything opened up - and immediately on checking in, the hostess offered a table inside. The decor is classic and welcoming. Drinks were brought almost immediately after ordering them. Enough staff that someone was always attending to us. Food was delicious, especially the cacio e pepe. Highly recommend

Love Sammie's! The ambiance and vibe is so spot on. We sat outside on a chilly evening but the heaters were on and it was such a pleasant dinner. The food was great but the cesar salad and mussels/clam appetizer were standouts. They nailed my dirty martini and the house Manhattan was fantastic. Such a great little gem of a restaurant!
