Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.

The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

The old school nyc little italy vibe was nice but sadly the food was not mind blowing in any respect. We were told it was family style portions by the waiter but they really a portion for one. really pricey for what it is.

Magical, drove in from Dallas to have dinner here with my daughters. Our server was polite, never intrusive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was spectacular, the meatballs, all of the pastas, but the snapper was the star of the show. I wish you guys had a restaurant in Dallas!! I can’t wait to come back again on my next trip.

Wonderful experience and worth every penny. They made my wife’s birthday super special and went above and beyond. Michael was the best waiter I ever had

Our server was absolutely amazing last night for our group. He led us through the menu and made sure we had the best bites. The food was just perfect. I’ve been to Sammie’s a few times and they never miss. The food is always phenomenal.

Came here for the first time and brought family that was visiting from out of town. Shay, our waitress, was wonderful and very attentive. She also had very good knowledge of the dishes and wines available, which helped us when ordering. We got the calamari for an appetizer and it was okay. But the entrees were immaculate. The lasagna was phenomenal, and a few of us splurged on the Bistecca alla Fiorentina and my god, it was one of the best steaks we’ve ever had. We also had dessert and after dinner drinks which were all incredible. We probably spent more time here than allotted but we never felt rushed or the need to leave. It was a bit noisy, but it was a smaller space so as to be expected. Also quite pricy, but for how much we enjoyed our meals I would definitely come back and splurge for a special occasion!

Food is classic American Italian. Service is outstanding. Everyhting we ate was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well.

Every single plate and glass was delicious, the dinning room is cute and fun and our server Shea was top notch. We had a great night and will go back for sure.
