‘Great British food in a striking riverside mill’

A true hidden gem, Sculthorpe Mill is a breath taking pub buried in the heart of the glorious Norfolk countryside built atop the River Wensum. Originally a watermill dating back to 1757, it has been lovingly restored by sisters Siobhan and Caitriona Peyton and they have created a haven for foodies and pub lovers alike, as well as one of the best pub gardens in Norfolk. This is a stunning contemporary dining pub, complete with chic bedrooms and a menu of expertly crafted modern British dishes.

Sculthorpe Mill’s seasonal menu changes regularly to make the most of Norfolk’s bountiful produce and all our core ingredients are locally sourced, foraged from land and sea before being passionately turned into award-winning dishes.

Come spring and summer, our garden is the ideal pace to enjoy an evening meal alfresco, or even just a crisp glass of rosé as you listen to the rush of the river or the buzzing of bees in the flower garden.

Great food in what just be one of the best outdoor settings in Norfolk. Lovely attentive staff as well, all round just a great experience.

Our lunch party of 7 ranged in age from 70's to 6, with dietary requirements including meat and non meat eaters, and gluten free. The kitchen and staff produced a delicious 3-course meal for each of us. Wonderful setting, warm and attractive dining room and friendly staff. Excellent.

I went with two friends visiting the area. We all had duck main which was delicious (good portion size, beautifully cooked; red cabbage and potato accompaniment perfect) as were the carrot and spinach sides. Couldn’t resist dessert - crumble lovely but one friend had the clotted cream rice pudding and rated it 11/10. Service excellent- attentive but not obtrusive. Very reliable venue and a perfect evening meal.

Don’t get seated near window bad draught. Service was very slow but friendly and efficient. Food was good but not outstanding.

Food was excellent, really really good. The service was incredibly slow, took about 45 minutes to get starters even after querying with the serving staff. Then a long time for mains and for puddings. Really unfortunate as the food is incredible.

Our meal was delicious. The starter I had was outstanding. Fresh ingredients with unusual flavours paired together. The service was excellent but the tables slightly too close together. I definitely would recommend for a treat meal.

Great service, awesome food, good value. The only thing I’d suggest is more potatoes with the confit duck!
