The scallops and crab cakes are excellent! The bread was not fresh. They just warmed it up. The crudo not so much. Little pricey I think. The place has so much potential however. I would come again for drinks and get the crab cakes and scallops again!

The view is spectacular, the service was great, and the food was very good, but it was pricey. The entrees were over $50. The $27 octopus appetizer was one octopus leg. We went for my husband's birthday, and the "special" birthday dessert was a piece of white cake with white icing and sprinkles -ugh. Would I go back? Perhaps for happy hour, to have a cocktail and admire the view, but then move on to another place for dinner.

Mixed experience. Was looking forward to going as the pictures looked great. However, when you first get to the hotel, no valet, self parking is tight, and then entering the hotel none of the 3 staff at the front desk said hello or welcome. We get to the elevator and then only one of the two is working. So while waiting for a long time you realize how dated the elevators are from the appearance. Once inside the elevator it is worse, so not a good first impression. The restaurant update is nice, well done, but getting there one would expect better. Service was ok, could have been better as the attention to details was just below what we expected for such a price and experience. Food was good except on my partners dish which was Sea Bass, the vegetables and puree were cold which distracted from the great tasting fish. The Snapper that was on the pictures was exceptional and the vegetables with it came in a nice pot that kept them simmering warm and this added to their flavor. Understanding the restaurant cannot control the hotel, so my review as just to provide some feedback on what they can control on the entrees but it would be nice to see the hotel invest in the accommodations/experience as well.

The best part of Sea and Sky is their amazing staff! Our server, Stephen was so personable, accommodating and professional, and all of the staff we encountered (bartender, hostess) were top notch. In a world where service is going down hill at so many restaurants, they really shine! The view, of course is beautiful, and the food was wonderfully prepared. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is for the overall ambience. The decor is more in line with a low-end coffee shop instead of an upscale restaurant. That was really disappointing! I think for that reason Sea and Sky is a good option for a casual lunch but not for a nice evening out if you are looking for upscale.

Stayed at this hotel making it easy to enjoy several dining experiences here. Every time the food, service (ask for Terri) and view were exceptional! Great location too, convenient to all things La Jolla.
