Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

Join us for a 12-wine, 6-course Michigan wine pairing dinner featuring both Sean O’Keefe, winemaker at Mari Vineyards, and Andrew Backlin, winemaker at Modales. Each are leaders in bringing organics and low intervention approaches to Michigan winemaking, and the two have collaborated on a series of six thematic flights comparing and contrasting northern and southwestern parts of the state. Chef Andy will present an original six-course tasting menu to accompany the wines which will include bottles pulled from the wineries' libraries of favorite past vintages.

Extremely loud place to eat and very drafty. Ambiance is very bland and boring. Food is average tasting but nothing close to the price tag that is being placed on it. Service was terrible with people reaching over you and your food. Grabbing plates from you before you finish eating. Skipping people before they order and when they do forgetting to put in what they order. Complete and total disappointment just like district Detroit.

The seared halloumi and blackened walleye were to die for . Cocktails extremely unique and refreshing. Service was top notch, I can see why this place has so many positive reviews.

I’ve been several times. This visit was just ok. The current potatoes option wasn’t as delicious as usual. Specified in the reservation that it was a milestone birthday and not a single person acknowledged it. That was disappointing.

Came here for the second consecutive year to celebrate my birthday tonight. Our second visit was just as delicious and enjoyable as our first. We got the beet salad, halloumi, their flatbread special, bucatini and the walleye. Every single dish had amazing flavour and decent portions. They also gave me a little birthday dessert which was a really nice way to end the meal. The cocktails were also really good-especially “I yam what I yam” was super unique and truly so tasty! Cant wait to come back next year!

The vibe was nice and the service was good. Unfortunately, the food was either too salty or too tart. Ordered the bucanti, blackened walleye and the octopus. The bucanti was very good but I was so disappointed with the walleye because the flavors were not balanced- it was too salty and tart. The octopus was not charred but actually burnt. The pineapple pound cake was too tart. I probably will not recommend to others.
