From the OpenTable editors: Chef Andrew Zimmerman's seasonal American tasting menu is so good that this West Loop favorite has consistently held on to a MICHELIN Star since first getting one in 2011. You'll get to choose from several options in your four-course dinner, which might include dishes like crispy ricotta gnudi, roasted monkfish with little neck clams, and a sweet pea pavlova with meyer lemon sorbet. You'll definitely want to get the wine pairing—Sepia won Wine Spectator's 2022 Best of Award of Excellence. Eating here feels extra-special because it's housed in an 1890 print shop with Art Nouveau floors and exposed-brick walls.

    We were so excited to visit Sepia, and our first two course and cocktails were lovely. After that, I’m not sure if our server got busy, but we waited a significant amount of time between courses (she didn’t check on us when our third course came out). Additionally, the temperatures and sets for the third course were inconsistent. One in our group ordered the Rohan duck breast, which tasted great but was very nearly cold when it arrived. The fish entree was overworked, excessively cheesy, and generally not good. The short rib, however, was wonderful. It was hot and had really great textural variations. Our desserts were underwhelming with each having far too many elements (in odd proportions) to be cohesive. Having a creme brûlée with ice cream, pastry cream, and meringue is simply too much. I’m hoping we went on an off night (especially because the support staff who ran food and cleared our courses were wonderful; the stars are for them), but I’m not sure we would recommend Sepia to our visiting friends and family.

    This was truly an extraordinary dining experience! My husband and I went for a special evening out, and had the four-course menu plus the cheese course and drinks. We picked different items so we could share. Every course was exquisite, and our waitress Heather was wonderful.

    The Chefs Experience was amazing. Our waitstaff very attentive without being suffocating. Our Dining Guide, Ashley, was absolutely superior. She was informative, patient, fun and friendly. We highly recommend Sepia!
