When Ross Magnaye and Shane Stafford started Serai, their vision was to create a restaurant that would fit perfectly in the heart of the Philippines. To replicate the spirit, vitality, passion and sense of fun, they knew Serai would become a home from home for our diners.

​At our restaurant, right in the heart of Melbourne, you can watch the chefs prepare and fresh food daily in our open kitchen at the chef’s omakase table or relax in the restaurant and bar with a glass of our hand picked, vin naturel selections or signature cocktails.

    Sitting at a table might be better than the chefs table counter option. We felt a bit overlooked because the kitchen and bar staff were so busy. Food was tasty and well cooked but nothing to wow about. Not much protein or many dishes in the $105 per head chefs selection. Wine pairing was ok, but not amazing. An interesting, fun and tasty time - just feels a bit expensive for what it is.

    The food at Serai is just superb, especially the spinner crab and scallops. We have dined there twice now and it is such an amazing, unique experience. The service was just fantastic. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

    A bit pricey but dishes were very nice. Location needs to be improved to make it worthy for the price of the dishes. But kudos to the chefs👍

    The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very chill. My family enjoyed our dinner and wish to eat there again. Totally Amazing!! Highly recommended.

    Lovely food, brings back memories of home, filo food with a cool twist! I’d be nitpicking with this comment - the only area for improvement is attention to detail when it comes to execution of dining. For example, eating a lechon with rice on a small bowl was challenging. Or serving sharing plates without providing a serving spoon. Or giving us the bill without asking if we’re done earting (I was wanting to get another drink actually!) As a Filipino, these are things that are innnate to our everyday dining and hospitality and not to be missed! Otherwise, A+++++++ food experience. Salamat chef!
