Shalel draws its inspiration from dishes and design of the coastal Mediterranean: Morocco, Palestine, Israel, Turkey, Greece, Italy, the Côte d’Azur, and Spain. Shalel's unique underground space is a relaxed, candlelit setting where highlights include Shalel’s namesake waterfall, indoor plants, fresh cut flowers, and an “alimentari” market of various Mediterranean products. Great ambiance at this restaurant. The food is very good. Like most Manhattan restaurants on a Saturday night it will be a fast meal but that is typical.

Definitely coming back! Loved the ambience - we got perfect corner for our date night. The place has so much character and quirks. We want to come back with a larger group just to try to their different “rooms”. Super impressed by creativity genius who designed this place. Very New York!!! Food was excellent for us pescatarians. Service excellent as well.

My kind of place . I keep coming back and it never disappoints! Cool vibe , quiet , tasty, yummy drinks . I am boring and always order grilled branzino, but also I try everybody’s food ( just to know ). Every dish is delicious! Needless to say, I will come back many more times !

Server was super nice and helpful. Layout and atmosphere felt magical. Catacombs of New York. We had long waits to place orders, receive food and pay the check. Other than that, it was perfect.
