Made reservations & dined here for the first time for a nice dinner date. It’s suppose to be a dinner & a show, show was lacking with not much interactions from the cook. Staff were friendly and attentive at first. For appetizers, we ordered the gyoza chicken & spicy edamame which were both tasty. Hubby ordered Shogun from the teppanyaki set menu that is chicken & beef cooked medium as requested. He ate the whole thing. It came with miso soup, salad, veggies, fried rice, seasonal fruits and green tea. The miso soup didn’t take like miso soup & very light in flavors, but hubby liked it & ate it all. Salad was a salad. The fried rice actually good although there were some eggshells. Was so full of food had to take the fried rice home had it for a snack. The only fruit received was slices of watermelons. Never received the green tea, which I wanted. We both had water and he had fresh strawberry juice and I have fresh guava juice. I wanted to order the duck foie-gras & breast but it wasn’t available, so I ordered the yaki udon. There are different types of udon noodles & they were kind enough to show me the noodles first before ordering. It wasn’t the udon I wanted but I thought I give it a try. I think it was ok but I wouldn’t ordered it again. I ordered the hot and sour tori soup & it was just lacking in flavors & I couldn’t finish the soup. I ordered the sashimi moriawase & it wasn’t the freshest I had but decent but the slicing of the sashimi was a bit poor and sloppy. For dessert, I had the green tea ice cream. It taste like it has been in the freezer for a while but I miss green tea ice cream being in Egypt that I didn’t care and ate it all. The food seems to be a bit pricey for the quality but it wasn’t like we come here on a regular base so it was a decent experience to try out at least once. P.S. They validate your parking up to two hours, which is nice. We were there for more than two and a half hours.

After seeing the reviews, I have wanted to try Shogun for a while. But was I disappointed. I have had hibachi many times in the US and I have to say, this was the worst experience I've had. First the positive, the staff was very understanding and eager to make things right. The appetizers were good. We had the edamame, shrimp tempura and chicken wings. We also tried two sushi rolls. All were good. But that's when the dinner turned awful. The hibachi courses were just terrible. First the soup and salad were very bad, we took one bite and left it aside. Then the hibachi, we order the seafood set menu and the chicken and filet set menu. The seafood was way overcooked and could not be eaten. The steak and chicken were tender but had no flavor as the hibachi chef did not use any salt, pepper or butter and he used very little garlic. I can't believe this chef was instructed to not season the food, which is what the chef told us after we complained. Only seasoning used was oil, a flavorless glaze which I assume was supposed to be teriyaki and soy sauce and that same flavorless glaze was used on everything (see attached photo). Really one of the worst experiences I've had here in Cairo. But again to the staff was very nice and didn't charge us for the hibachi and wanted to make it right.

The variety of choices was large, the sushi and hibachi were great and the cook was entertaining. The restaurant is a little confusing to find within the hotel but once you're inside the atmosphere feels authentic. Pricing was a bit expensive but not crazy.
