Filet mignon was fabulous! Tomahawk was a showstopper, and good. Beet salad was more greens than beets. Smashed (mashed) potatoes were yummy. Server was attentive and respectful. Ambience leaves much to be desired. Too bright lighting. Not an intimate atmosphere.

Very disappointed, this was my first visit to tha Slahal Restaurant. Starting out on a positive note, the service was good just too long between entrees. Kept clean and the service and table staff were continuously busy maintaining the restaurant. The reception station was very accommodating. Highly disappointed in the food prep, had pan seared scallops as an appetizer - not cooked properly, cold and raw in the center. The Soup had a chalky taste and too thick, like eating paste. The salad was wilted with no mention of blu cheese could not be finished The bread has stale buns where the bottom of the bun was too hard to eat. I had the NY steak, was to be cooked medium rare, the outer portion was good but the center 2 inches was raw I could not finish my steak, the wife had a filet mignon cooked rare was done very well. The sauce covering the steaks was very good. No desert at 8:00 pm, poor planning on behalf of management. The restaurant was a little loud considering the ambiance you were trying to achieve. The bar festivities bled over into the restaurant. The pricing was too high for the level of service and food prep you presently provide. I'm glad I didn't have close friends or relatives, I would have been embarrassed. So many discrepancies, we could not plan a social gathering at the Slahal Restaurant. I will not make a second visit, we had high hopes and were hoping to celebrate our anniversary with Slahal in December, but I don't see that happening. Sorry this was not more positive, the level of restaurant that you are try to achieve needs work.

Atmosphere: Perfect: great ambience, nice/large round table in the back corner with dim lighting; extremely clean (not a hint of cigarette smoke in the elevator or restaurant). Presented very classy. Service: Hostess was excellent (welcoming, professional); seating time was impeccable. Waiter (from start to finish): Extraordinary!!! Equal to the food, he went “above and beyond.” Professional, knowledgeable, classy, attentive - but not overly so; VERY kind/polite. He presented well and represented this restaurant with absolute top tier class. He made the experience luxurious and he will be the reason we return. Food: We had Ribeye Steak, Chicken salad, Salmon, and Clam Chowder, vegetables, rolls…all amazing). Sons had Chardonnay wine, loved it. The Chef is the best now we’ve experienced, so far (Italy, France, London, Germany, Hawaii, Tokyo, Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, etc.). To say this restaurant exceeded our expectations is an understatement. Price: Right on point for quality and service. Location: This restaurant is worth the drive to Tacoma. Parking: Clean. Huge parking garage. High ceilings - can fit any size vehicles (large trucks); bright lighting; present physical security; cameras; close walk to elevators. Directions: Drive past the Casino entrance/drive around to second stop sign (one going to the left and one that will take you straight or to the right): Go left. Very next left turn (into the “East” garage). Take the elevator to the 4th floor. At the security check, circle to the left hall to next set of elevators; take elevator to the 11th floor. Amazing view!

They are trying to be a premier steakhouse in Tacoma. They primarily cater to gamblers staying at the hotel. They should have a dress code as only the prices are upscale. They do serve prime steaks from about $110 to $130 a steak. We had the regular 11 oz New York steak and 7 oz filet for about $65 each. They came with a salad and small portions of vegetables. We ordered two shareable sides that could feed 4 persons of mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks were cooked perfectly, but were a little too salty for our tastes. The New York steak had the fat trimmed off which detracts from the flavor in my opinion. Wine selection was good at $16 to $20 a glass. We had 6:15 reservations and the only dessert they had left at the end was a chocolate mousse cake. Parking in the hotel garage is easy and the restaurant is on the 11th floor.

We had a reservation at 6pm that I had booked weeks in advance so my friends and I could catch up before an 8pm show in the event center. After an hour of waiting, we ended up finding a table at the bar after a group left. I noticed the waitress was attending to others who came in after us, so I walked up to her at bar and let her know we took over a table from a precious group and asked if I could see dinner menus. She looked so annoyed, let out a big sigh and said she’d be over at our table. When she came over to clean the table to give us menus, she didn’t even say hello or give us a warm welcome. When she was wiping the table, she was wiping it so the crumbs fell into laps. After she left, I walked up to the front to remove our name off the list since we found a spot in the bar. She said we can have dinner in the bar or there was now a table available in the dining area. I asked if we still had time to order and eat with the show starting in 40 min. She was concerned we wouldn’t have time so my friends and I ended up leaving snd grabbed a bite downstairs in the deli. Not only was the staff rude, but we weren’t even able to eat. That’s just terrible service. Clearly they overbook so making a reservation doesn’t even matter. We won’t be going back.

Our server was outstanding! The atmosphere was great and the singer in the bar was really good. The salmon, lobster and scallops dishes were good but in our opinion, did not meet our expectations for the price. I would recommend this restaurant for it’s ambiance and the special treatment received.
