Slows Bar Bq Grand Rapids opened in 2015 in the Downtown Market, an urban, self-sustaining, mixed-use facility on Grand Rapids’ south side that brings together food production, distribution, marketing and education about local foods.
Slows Grand Rapids features a similar menu to the famous Detroit location, including slow-cooked barbecue favorites like brisket, ribs, pulled pork, several of Slows' signature sandwiches & sides and several dozen Michigan-based artisan and craft beers on tap.

The barbeque pork, chicken and beef brisket was excellent and beer selection was outstanding. Excellent restaurant for an adult outing, lunch or dinner.

Family with young kids getting together 14 in total. Great menu/ fast service. We did have to ask for children’s menus. 6 kids 9 and under. Kids loved their menu selections too

The food is hands-down amazing, no question. Do try the Mac-n-cheese as a side if you can. And pork-n-beans. The atmosphere is ok in Grand Rapids; although we quite enjoyed the uniqueness of the one in Detroit better. It is definitely a good bang for your buck.

Food tastes good.. good value... extremely slow getting food out after our order. Busy afternoon... but too long to wait!

This is a great place for a quick meal - we went before a concert at Van Andel and we could have walked to VA if we wanted to. It's all ala carte so you can get whatever sides you want to go with the delicious chicken, pork or beef bbq. Food comes out super fast because it's basically cooked already and just dished up. Nothing was dried out - it's bbq so it's nice and moist. Sides were delicious - mac and cheese, coleslaw, and the baked beans which are a meal in themselves with a ton of shredded pork in them - so thick and delish! We also got the side of cornbread which is big enough to cut 4 pieces out of and they give it to you with butter. Typical dry and crumbly but that's just how cornbread is. Had the burnt ends for an app and gobbled them up - super tasty. They have 6 bbq sauces to choose from and they bring them all to your table. Great place if you have kids that need to run around a little and it's attached to the Downtown Market. Parking was super easy with a lot across the street. $1.50 per hour. Pretty loud, full bar, Founders on tab - I think the server said they have like 40 beers on tap. Was happy to see Nitro Rubaeus there! Very few wines though and they are kind of pricey. Not sure what the price of mixed drinks is but this is really a beer city isn't it? We will go back for sure.

Food was okay, I have had better BBQ at home for less money! For a BBQ place ribs were tough not fall off the bone good.

The food was great, but the menu was a little different than the Slow's in Detroit (Detroit's meat comes with sides, Grand Rapids' does not). It tastes the same, but it is a better deal in Detroit. The servings were big!! On of the biggest bummers about our dinner was that our waitress did not want to be there, and she made it clear.
