Originally established in 1974, Smuggler's Inn has been serving Alberta prime rib to several generations. Always a popular place for Calgarians to gather and celebrate, we are the preferred dining choice for birthdays, anniversaries, milestones or just meeting friends and family. Our prime rib is the main feature of our diverse menu, available all day, every day any way you like it. From a 9oz. prime rib, all the way up to a 18oz cut, our succulent prime rib is sure to please any appetite. Of course there is a creative selection of steaks, chicken and seafood to satisfy everyone. It would be a great idea if you saved room for one of our delicious desserts...even if you plan on sharing.

Had the prime rib which was very good. Potato was a bit dry, as were the other vegetables other than the beets which were amazing. Dessert was not good. The crumble topping was dry. Service was mediocre. Not as good as first visit.

Overall for the price I expected better not just of the food but of the whole experience. First, our servers seemed confused as to who was going to be handling our table - we assumed once it had been resolved our server would be around more often. Multiple times we were left with no drinks, and our appetizer plates remained on our table for the whole meal. Secondly, the decor is quite dated and really should be improved. As a plus sized person, at least the seats did come without arms (when requested) and it was fairly easy to move around when leaving. Lastly was the food - this is really what disappointed me the most. The bernaise sauce was very lemony, and came to the table cold and starting to congeal. The baked potatoes were cold and without butter (yet the server - it didn’t improve - informed us it was already in there). The side vegetables were sad, cold, and basically flavorless. The steaks - were meh at best. We didn’t even bother with dessert, as at that point our server was so MIA we felt we better ask for the check or be stuck for the rest of the night.

The food was so, so...The Caesar salad not completed dish, missing main ingredients. I ordered with prawns, it was a tiny shrimps from can. The parmesan chees and bacon bits was missing... The baked garlic bread was not edible, it was burned, you can brake a tooth if you try to bite on... My husband's dish; prime rib was very thin slice of meet and very fat, nothing to much to eat... My steak; rib eye was good. The waiter spoke pure English, also short of proper training, didn't understand that on loaded baked potato first item has to be butter, after sour cream, bacon bits and chives. They didn't have a butter, brought butter after, it was to late... We remember different service and food in famous the Smuggler's restaurant with delicious big variety salad bar, it's gone... We not coming back:( and do not recommend for the price they were charging, over $400 for 4 people.

The prime rib was great but the veg was not great. The mash potatoes tasted like they came out of a box. We both ordered lobster tail. One was mushy and spoiled and had to be sent back. 25.oo the other was so small it could have been a crayfish.. . It was our anniversary and it was very underwhelming.

Excellent meals, service was excellent, meals served in a timely fashion, - I needed a gluten-free option and the server was well informed and able to make suggestions. Had no symtpoms after eating. Highly recommend

I hadn’t been to Smugglers in several years and was looking forward to it but was sadly disappointed. Their signature prime rib tasted good but the sides and presentation were very basic and there wasn’t much flavour. Also their wine list was very limited. It used to be a treat to go to Smugglers - the food and the atmosphere were high end but they need to do some work if they want to regain that status as there is a lot of competition.
