   Where do I begin! We took our boyfriend out for his birthday since none of us have been here before. At first sight, there was a love affair with the interior which is funky, fresh, and full of meaning. The staff were amazing! Hannah was hands down one of if not the best servers we have ever had. Janelle (sp) was equally as amazing. The food……oh….my….. From the bread, the dates, the scallops, the Australian wagyu, macaroni and cheese pancake, whipped potatoes to the very end for dessert….. It was all simply fantastic no….orgasmic. The food had a funky flair with interesting takes on classics and the flavors and seasonings were on point. Alcohol and pairings were also suggested perfectly by Hannah which is a rare find in a server. We will be back. No threats….all promises!

   Excellent steaks and service! The Boursin stuffed peppadew peppers on the plate were a nice touch. We were seated close to the door and there was a large group on the other side of the wall, so not a good setting of we were celebrating a special occasion like an engagement or anniversary.

   On our first visit to SOB (Son of a Butcher) Steakhouse, we were greeted by a wildly eclectic decor with broad-based literary elements -- visually most interesting. Our wait staff (veteran and trainee) were friendly, courteous, and unobtrusively attentive to our needs throughout our two-hour dining experience. The food was, in a word, fabulous! Flavorful steaks cooked to perfection, generous sides for the table to share, and a unique Black Forest cake dessert, both tasty and over-the-top creative. Only the wine selection was depleted slightly after several large holiday parties. Still, we found one to our liking, as suggested by the waiter. SOB is definitely a special occasion spot for most of us. It is expensive (as expensive as world-class Bern's, in Tampa, and close to that high-water mark of dining) and the total quality of food, service, and ambiance was reflective of the pricing, as it better well be. Highly recommended.

   We just left - our friend had a medical emergency before we got our dinner. The staff was very caring and accommodating. They packaged all our food for us as we left to follow our friend to the hospital. We’ll be back to try again.

   If you want a place for a memorable meal this is it. You start with eclectic decor, exceptional service and recommendations provided by Brennan and culminate with a cut above beef. Brought an out of town friend here and she was bowled over by the delicious meal.

    SOB was loud and crowded with slow service times. It took a minimum of 30 minutes to get water served and an hour and half or more for us to receive our entrees from the time we received our water. We were notified that the kitchen was backed up and offer a drink but we had to pay for it which we assumed would be comped because of the long wait times. We also never received an appetizer we order which we were also charged for. Overall we will likely not return but the appetizers were great and the steak just ok.
