   Had a reservation and waited 50 minutes to get seated. It was my girlfriend’s birthday as well. Very disappointing experience overall service and food included.

   I went on Valentine’s Day and was disappointed in most of the waitstaff I interacted with. We started at the bar cause we arrived a little early before our reservation. Despite being at the bar and being within 5 feet of the bartenders, it took awhile to finally have someone pop up behind me to take our order. I ordered two drinks, but they could only serve one at first due to needing to find the ice block for the other. While waiting for the second drink at the waiter was pressuring us to start the ten course meal while at the bar “cause there are a lot of people coming in” but I said no. Then waiter then brought the second drink and I had to be firm that we wanted to start our meal at the table at our reservation time when he pushed again. Once the hostess came to get us we stood up to take our drinks to the table and the bartender/waiter who had pressured us to start our meal at the bar yelled that I needed to pay the bill. I assumed it would be transferred to the table, but I told her to go to the table and I would just pay there. I then stood at the bar for several minutes before the waiter realized he had never actually had given me my bill. He ran my bill and I was able to pay. The experience at the table was much better. The food was amazing. Some of the waiters that dropped off the entrees spoke fast it was hard to catch it all. A couple got seated next to us and the first thing the waitress said to them was “yall have a 90 minute time limit” even though there were open tables and no line at that time. If I’m spending $150 a person, I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m burden to have in the restaurant and need to be leave as soon as possible.

   We enjoyed a very good dinner at Soto. My waygu gyoza was one of the best I have had and it was accompanied with a sauce that added a lot of umami. My roll, I cannot remember the name of it, was also very good, but in retrospect would have benefitted from some soy sauce to accompany it. My wife's lamb chops were a bit dry and over cooked. Next time she will order the sous vide pork which looked delicious. We will return for another meal soon.

   My partner and I went for our anniversary dinner. The food was delicious, as always. The service was amazing, like always. Also, we discovered they have a daily happy hour! Soto is easily our favorite sushi restaurant in Houston right now.

   We spent a most enjoyable evening at the Sushi Counter in Soto enjoying a great range of dishes. We especially enjoyed recommendations of Chef Andy and his colleagues. We are looking forward to returning toSoto in the not too distant future.

   We had our rolls before our food and took another 30 mins to get a 2nd drink. Margaritas are hard to make. Plenty of empty tables so not packed for service to take so long

   We had an incredible experience and are so glad we found this place for our girls weekend. We have one vegetarian in our group and the vegetarian menu was fantastic with lots of variety. Highly recommend the chili tofu! If you haven’t had Omakase before then you should definitely do it here. This is my third omakase experience and definitely my favorite so far. The fish is so fresh and the courses and presentation are unique, interesting and elegant. Phillip was our waiter and his knowledge of the menu is outstanding and service was perfect. We would have never guessed he just started there! Shout out to our chefs, you are all sushi masters. All the praise goes to you and the rest of the kitchen. We will be back and recommend you to anyone for a fantastic experience.
