                                                                                        I had an excellent experience at this brunch spot on my first visit to Atlanta after moving from San Francisco. From the moment we arrived, the valet service made parking effortless, and the welcoming host set a warm tone for the entire visit. The entrance itself is stunning, with a great atmosphere that makes you excited for the meal ahead. Our server was incredibly vibrant and friendly, adding to the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. As for the food, everything we tried was delicious. We had the frittata, pimento cheese, salmon, chicken sausage, and collard greens—each dish was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The cocktails were also top-notch, complementing the meal wonderfully. It was a great start to our Atlanta brunch adventures, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and a fantastic overall experience!

                                                                                        Some of my party ran late, and they graciously moved our reservation. The Pimento cheese was delicious, as was the shrimp and grits. We had an 8-year-old with us, and they had crayons for her.

                                                                                        The server was extremely knowledgeable and kind. The bread was so burnt I was concerned there were nuts in it (allergies) there weren’t. After waiting 20 minutes for my drink (that the server took 5 minutes to confirm they had everything to make upon ordering) I was informed they were out of key ingredients, were running to get the rest, and it’d be a few more minutes. It was supposed to be a Hennessy margarita. It tasted like rubbing alcohol. It was $25. The non-burnt food was meh. We won’t be back, but the server was SUPER sweet.

                                                                                        I have been a regular customer here since they opened this location. I have to admit, the new preparations of their traditional items doesn't thrill me. Way too many things added to the main entree. The beauty of their food was its southern simplicity. With the new preparations, there a ton of stuff added (e.g., their trout entree with away too much fennel; or the new egg white frittata--way too many things added; or the chicken livers with sweet potatoes). While the new preparations are "just okay", I find myself looking for other restaurant options where I don't have to experiment with new preparations of my favorite items.

                                                                                        Unfortunately our Thanksgiving meal was underwhelming. Although our server, Xander, was delightful, the meal was rushed, timing of delivery was mismatched, and food was good but not great. While we understand that the restaurant has to charge higher prices for “holiday” meals, the overall effect was less than enjoyable. I dare say we will not dine at South City again.
