From the OpenTable editors: After years of fine dining on the Strip, James Beard semifinalist Brian Howard took the party to Chinatown, and opened his own restaurant Sparrow + Wolf in 2017. A globally inspired menu of wood-fired cooking includes dishes like fresh-baked sourdough, hand-rolled pasta, and innovate plates of seafood. With a dramatic black-and-gold space, a monster mural of a wolf, and late night entertainers, it’s just the right amount of Vegas.

    Pre-movie dinner at the bar. As is typical, I had had menu items already selected before arrival, only to be derailed by the new and limited once actually in the restaurant. Was sold on the Featured Cocktail, Beowulf ($18; named by Cami), because black walnut and honey. Incredibly smooth, rich rounded taste. One of the new fall/winter menu items was the Green Apple + Red Endive ($21): A salad which pinged every part of the tongue, as long as the forkful managed to spear every type of ingredient. A tasty sensory exploration. Salty, fatty, crisp, crunchy, sweet, sharp. Was interested in trying the special sake and so, after a glowing description from Drew, opted for the Wild Boar Lasagna ($28) as pair. But before the dish arrived, I got a wee taste of Kikuhime Kukurihime Daiginjo Sake so switched to that liquid instead ($35 for 4 oz). Lasagna: Incredible. Multiple layers of perfect pasta interlaced with succulent rich (but not heavy or cloying) meat in a shallow pour of earthy salty sweet sauce, with an extra cheesy punch from the foamy topping. The edges had been described upon delivery as like those of brownies, and did have that extra crispiness and depth of savory flavor. I mopped the plate. Finished with the Creamy Bitter Boozy ($16): A great balanced sipper to end the meal. Value: Fine to me, although a couple of my choices may be viewed as even more budget-busting than usual. Atmosphere: Relatively subdued for Sparrow + Wolf, with the bar not as packed as it usually is, but still energetic. Very friendly seatmates. Service: One of the highlights of the meal, led by Drew. Attentive, with informative stories on the background of various food and drink, enhancing an already amazing dinner.

    As always, a wonderful meal. Don't miss the porterhouse steak, the pork secretory or the snapper. Awesome service from start to finish.

    We did the chefs tasting with wine pairing . It was outstanding. Service was excellent . Food was outstanding. Well worth the money .

    Sparrow and Wolf has a very interesting menu. Not your usual Vegas fare and that was why I booked it. Food and quality did not disappoint. Had the oxtail hummus and dry aged snapper appetizers and both were superb. Entrees were the Black Pepper Honey Pork and my wife had the pan seared scallops. Both were outstanding. Highlight was dessert and the Honey Bread. Fantastic. Did could not have been better. Downside was noise. Deafening. Plus you sit so close to the next table you will not have a private moment to talk. Service wasn’t great. We were constantly out of wine and waiting while our entrees sat. Very slow and not attentive. Very knowledgeable. Water service and clearing the table was spot on but drink and bar service was not good at all.

    Our first time dining here and it was a really fun experience with the different flavors of each course. Service was impeccable and the creativity of the dishes was evident throughout the service. We put off trying this restaurant for a long time and so glad we finally got around to it. Can't wait to return and try more dishes. Can't give it enough praise!
