State of Grace is a coastal, South Texas neighborhood restaurant in the refurbished Lamar-River Oaks Shopping Center. Elegant but casual, its elevated comfort food by executive chef Bobby Matos is executed at the highest level in a welcoming, beautiful space. The jubilant medley of old favorites played with new spice, accent, and freshness lends itself to southern, American, Latin, Gulf Coast, German and Asian influences. Chef-owner Ford Fry’s first venture outside of Atlanta, State of Grace is located in the neighborhood where Ford grew up and nods to his childhood memories fused with Houston’s evolution into a melting pot of cultures and cuisines.

Outstanding cuisine, very prompt and friendly service, and we asked for a quieter table, and they have a side room that is much quieter than the main room, so definitely ask for it if you're looking for a quieter dinner.

I love this restaurant, the service and the food is amazing! I only have one complaint, I don’t understand why it always takes SO long for food to come out. We have the same issue EVERY time, we always wait at least 45 minutes to an hour for the Petit Plateau! This doesn’t stop me from coming because I do love the place, it’s just frustrating.

Been our go to for years, but not anymore. Changed menu for the worse, trying to hard to change traditional food like shashuka that is with polenta and fried eggs. Changed for Benedict but eggs and sauce cold
