I had been wanting to visit Sud Forno as I had passed it regularly but the experience was quite disappointing. it was Valentines day and appreciate the place was busy but the table we were given was next to the door and there was a constant draft. By the second course my partner needed to put a jacket on and by the last course I needed to do the same - it just became too unbearable. Food wise our starter of Burrata was fantasic - nice flavour and very fresh. My pasta dish was also very tasty and I enjoyed (Tonnarelli alla Norcina) but my partner ordered Tagliolini ai Gamberi e Bottarga and they ate less than half of it. The pasta was dry and the shrimps did not taste the best. Maybe it was a bad night and other nights would be better but I will probably try other places before going back.

Another great Italian option that’s easy to get a table at because it’s a big restaurant. Had the zucchini orecchiette and it was 10/10

Made a reservation to three different Italian restaurants approximately 5 days in advance. Based on photos from the website, along with recommendations from colleagues, this place was supposed to be something special. So I canceled the other two reservations. BTW this is valentines 2025. I arrived on time for my 545 seating, greeted kindly at the door sent to the host/hostess podium for checking in. And then, I was taken to the basement/dungeon while I observed several empty tables on the main floor with what seemed beautiful for the brief moment I was allowed to look at it. Then after being seated, I was told that I had an hour to get out. Okay I replied. So we quickly ordered two drinks, hurriedly order an app then shortly thereafter, ordered my main courses. Sat and waited patiently for what seemed significantly long for the appetizer to arrive. I was then offered asked if I would like some sourdough bread, approximately 25 minutes after being seated. After just about to dip my bread into the olive oil out comes our meals. I ask, the person bringing the meals, 'your bringing the apps together with the mains?' The person looked confused. The server steps in just standing behind me, and said 'there was no appetizer'. In an unapologetic manner she says she didn't order the appetizer and asked if I still cared for it, I responded no thank you. My partner liked her dish, (Cod) BTW, it's not a meal, you'll need to order a side choice of two things potatoes and I'm not sure the other thing, If I were you, try the other thing. My dish was Tagliolini Ai Gamberi E Bottarga, my homemade pasta was, "al dente", really al dente, who knows, I'm not Italian, maybe this was intended to be cooked this way. Regardless, after visiting Italy on a few occasions, I've never had pasta this uncooked, the shrimp tasted pretty good. Then the server asked if we wanted desert, it's on the house I looked at my watch, 5 minutes left, okay I said. She screwed up free desert.

No Parmesan with my seafood risotto. Silly pretentious rule. You’re not a Michelin restaurant. If a customer wants parm given them parm. Who do you think you are to dictate what people eat? Classic pretending to be better than you are.

A great place for traditional tasting Italian food. Location is close to many venues downtown, and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing.

Terrific service, food is sadly generic, bland and phoned-in. Sloppy, tasteless and over dressed salad and tasteless pasta bolognese. Cold espresso. Is this really Toronto quality? Disappointing.
