Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Sugar Factory - Detroit offers a lively atmosphere, perfect for celebrations. While guests rave about the "delicious milkshakes" and "amazing desserts," the experience can be a mixed bag due to "loud music" and "overpriced" menu items. Despite some service hiccups, standout servers like Onas and Shauna ensure memorable visits.

Waited Almost a hour for my food they bring my food out two by two and it was cold like they just had our food sitting in the back. The bread for my club sandwich was so hard you couldn’t even bite into the sandwich the chicken breast was also cold the quesadillas had more cheese than meat it was also dripping liquid the pizza was too sweet and the burger and macaroni was warm after all that was done I was not about to pay for the shakes just to get them mostly half melted and or milky. Overall it was the worst experience I ever and will not recommend no one to go there. Just beyond disappointing and disrespectful

The food is over priced $10 for a side of potatoes is crazy the pizza flatbreads tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza for $23 lol and kinda small at that.. The service was very slow and it was very slow in the restaurant itself so I was confused why it took so long just for us to get water lol I mean they are hiring (they really need a busser, there were dirty tables everywhere and no one had a sense of urgency regarding anything) The quality of food does not reflect the prices at all and there were tables with lots of food left at the end off their meals if that tells you anything. The Mac n cheese balls I was looking forward to since I had them at the Chicago restaurant (much better there, the layout and everything) so I seen they had them here coated with Hot Cheetos (more like dusted , couldn’t even taste what made them different) and they were small and deformed lmao for $18. Kinda disappointing overall.. ANDD for the bill to automatically include a 20% tip is crazy especially for the poor quality of work and customer service, you should need to work for your top, they are really lax and still get rewarded for it Smhh I heard management is to blame

Came here for the kids to experience it and will never go back! Made reservations for 7:15 two weeks in advance, checked in at 6:45 after waiting 10 min in a line out the door, and didn't get seated until 7:35 after I went and asked how much longer. The music is SO loud - we didn't choose to come to the club! We came to a restaurant for my nephews bday dessert. We finally get our order taken and come to find out they don't have over half the menu! They only have classic shakes, which don't even come with the Whirly pop as stated. My daughter ordered the Candy Jar, and we ended up getting a vanilla milkshake with Carmel swirled on the cup. The plates and silverware they gave us were dirty- food, hair, finger prints. This place is ridiculous. Never again will I come to this location, or most likely any Sugar Factory. This was a HORRIBLE experience. What a disappointing night! Not worth the hype or the money spent!

This was my second time visiting this location and unfortunately it will probably be my last. I’m not sure if there has been a change in management since my first visit a year ago but this experience was the total opposite. The atmosphere and service were so unorganized and chaotic. The music was obnoxiously loud, you almost had to scream to hear the people at your table which made the environment even more loud. And the food…..They ran out of just about everything we asked for and it was only 7pm. The food the we did receive was cold and had zero flavor. I never received what I ordered and ended up just not eating. This was my daughter’s 16th birthday dinner and she ended up having to send her order back because it was ice cold. We are unproblematic people so we didn’t make it a big deal but for the price that we paid and the fact that we traveled from Ohio, this was such a disappointment.

This is a fun restaurant if you are looking for great location to have a drink or dessert. It is not a great dinner/food spot and is very overpriced for the subpar food and service. Also be aware it is incredibly slow, so make sure you have a lot of time.

It was a great atmosphere, but our food took an hour and a half to get. Our server was the life of the party, which unfortunately meant fun to watch, however, did not come to the table. We didn’t even have time to get dessert, they told us it would take another 40 minutes to get dessert. Great place with a lot of fun, but maybe don’t go on a Saturday night…

I wish it was very nice and very attentive towards us. She went out of her way for us a couple of times and I was appreciative of that. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and any other questions that we had. She made me feel special When I went for my birthday.

I dont know who's worst a manager her name be may be Danielle (lightskin black womenwith braids) and this other hostess (I wish I had her name). I guess it's a top-down effect. Their attitudes are so stank. To be employed at a flagship location with such horrible attitudes is beyond me. We waited 30 minutes for our table, although the entire party was ready to sit. I travel for a living and travel leisurely in-between work quit often. I have visited the Sugar Factory Chicago, Rosemont, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Bloomington, and Houston locations some more than once. Not to mention tons of restaurants in general. You couldn't pay me to hire these ladies. Their just horrible! This is my second experience with the manager, and if I wasn't at the Detroit location for my nieces birthday, I would've left and went to JoJo's Additionally, you all need to sweep the floors and wipe the dried ketchup off of the non working television display. Which is very reflective of management and her lack of skills. Onas, however, was a very friendly and personable server. I've never had him as a server, but he came to work with the right attitude! Thank him for the increase in stars for this location review because I was definitely going to give it 1 star! Visit occured November 30 @ 5:15pm.

One of the worst experiences. Took 45 minutes to order and had 3 different waiters/waitresses and don’t believe any one was actually assigned and had to ask to order employees to be helped. Cool place, but nobody seemed to ever work in the food industry.
