First time. Live nearby and have been desperate for a quality, higher end Japanese place. It is that!! Ambience so unlike places on 3rd Avenue, artistically designed. Service friendly & attentive. Food was perfect, fresh, extensive menu, hard to chose, priced reasonable for Manhattan—-know that it’s high anywhere else in the country.

In September, I made a reservation for my 70th birthday and ask to be seated in the room with the fireplace. I was not allowed to sit there and all through dinner the tables in that area were empty. Saturday I returned with a reservation for a Very Special Birthday for a friend we were 3 for dinner and had made the same request and was told it was impossible again. We agreed to sit in any corner of the next room …but the elderly hostess was unwilling to allow us to put two 2 very small tables together, so we would have room for our abundant food and drink. She kept shouting “These have Reservation!” I assured her that I had one also for 10 days past. On her fourth protest I asked “What High Powered Clients are you holding all of these tables for?” At that point a younger woman came in and let us sit where we requested. The food is wonderful there, but I have never been there without a fight about where I might sit even with credit card guaranteed reservation. Because we are three men, she wanted to sit us in the back of the restaurant at the sushi bar or near it. As the restaurant began to fill up, I could see no captains of industry there only neighborhood people wearing shorts and flip-flops and cap on their heads backwards and not dressed nearly as well as we were, but they were welcomed to sit where they liked. I will have to think carefully before I go there again. It’s difficult enough to find a good restaurant in Manhattan these days but common courtesy should be a large part of the service. Thank you, Michael

A good place to have Japanese cuisine, not only sushi. However, while overall pretty good, the karaage was subpar. Sushi was great, apart from the mackerel which was not fresh enough and cured too long.

One of the best Omakase experiences in the city, without the hype. A must try.

Heavily recommend the Omakase Goda special. Each serving is a burst of flavor. Super sushi at just plain NYC expensive prices. (As opposed to super sushi expensive prices).

Excellent if pricey Omakase. Excellent service. The decor is dark and under whelming. Overall worth the trip

An absolute gem on the upper east side. Gorgeous restaurant; excellent food exquisitely presented; attentive but non-intrusive service. I can’t wait to go back!
