                                                          My friend commented on the fact it was our best meal yet , we have dined here a few times . Great atmosphere and good service. Also good to see the restaurant was virtually full always a good sign .

                                                          We have been there several times, before Covid. Did not know why we stopped but now I remembered. While the food was very good we found it too salty. On this occasion, we were seated near the bar and I think the air condition was on as there was a draft that hits the back of my neck.

                                                          I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Sussex for a Sunday roast, and I can confidently say it was a delightful experience! I opted for the lamb, which was succulent and bursting with flavor. Each bite melted in my mouth, making it a standout choice for the meal. The Yorkshire pudding was a spectacular feature on the plate—truly a sight to behold! It was enormous, and my friend jokingly suggested it could have come with its own plate. Despite its size, it was impressively light and fluffy, perfectly balancing the richness of the lamb without feeling too filling. To accompany my meal, I chose a Bloody Mary, which was deliciously spicy and complemented the roast beautifully. It was the perfect drink to enhance the flavors of the dish. For dessert, I indulged in a brownie that struck the right balance—rich yet not too heavy. It was the perfect ending to a lovely meal. The Sussex itself is a charming pub with great decor that adds to the ambiance. It wasn't too busy, allowing for a relaxed dining experience, and the staff members were friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. If I had one minor critique, it would be that I should have asked for my food to be a bit warmer; I prefer my meals steaming hot. However, this did not detract significantly from an otherwise wonderful dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend The Sussex for anyone looking for a delicious Sunday roast in a lovely setting!

                                                          Came for Sunday roast and was disappointed. Pork was overcooked, tough, dry, and lacked flavor. Roast potatoes were not very crisp and tasted stale. I think they had been precooked a day or several days before.

                                                          This was my second visit to The Sussex,the first being two months ago.I once again can not fault the service which on both occasions I’ve found it to be efficient,friendly,warm,welcoming & knowledgeable.On this my second visit i didn’t enjoy the food quite as much as i had on my first visit.We chose the Local And Wild Set Menu,which is what i had thoroughly enjoyed on my first visit,and there was nothing wrong with any of the courses served but possibly some of the dishes were less interesting to my palate this time….But it was still a very good experience,my guest loved it,and we will definitely return. I ordered a bottle of their Nutbourne Vineyard Blush rose to enjoy with our meal and we both really enjoyed it and thought it to be excellent value.

                                                          I’ve been before to have dinner so was interested to see how it compares for lunch. I’m pleased I made the effort as it was great. There’s an excellent set menu which I ignored as my guest wanted something from the a la carte but I chose a starter the featured in the set menu and it was delicious. The restaurant was quite quiet which surprised me but that didn’t bother me. I highly recommend Sussex, whatever time of day.

                                                          I have been traveling to different countries in Europe for over 40 days and have tried many amazing restaurants. With that, I must say, Sussex was a gem among them all. They are doing everything right: the food, the ambience, the drinks, and the ambience. It is a little getaway from the hustle of the city.
