   We booked for lunch and were given the table we asked for overlooking the river. Food. Starters were ok (not great). The toast supplied with the Pate was burnt. Main courses (about an hours delay). Fish curry good - Steaks x2 were a disaster. Ordered Medium Rare and Rare - both were on the wrong side of medium. Incorrect type of chips supplied for one of the steaks. Asked to speak to the 'Manager'. Initially she tried to be overbearing with no apology (another of your customers said to us afterwards - 'she was rude'). Eventually she apologised after listing many excuses - busy, she was serving in the bar (?), etc. The steaks were deducted from our bill. We didn't stay for dessert or coffee. Payment card system needs a review. In order to split the bill staff had to return to the main till to split. The main poistive of our visit was the view of the river!

   Seated in area looking out onto river. Service just right; not hurried and certainly not slow. Good and varied choice of menu and wine list. What more could you ask for?

   Terrible Sunday roast. Veg were good - meat really had, chicken dry and beef uncuttable!

   Steak sandwich off lunch menu was fantastic! Fish finger sandwich very nice. Lovely spot by the river.

   Very nice lunch, service wasn’t fast, but we were in no hurry, so that worked for us.. all parties had different main courses and everyone thought it was delicious.. lovely table overlooking the river, so will definitely be back ..

   Having not been in to The Swan since my school days (with parents) I was very pleased, as was my daughter and my friends who joined us. Point of interest: Jimmy Page lived two doors up stream 1962 to 1967. It must have been good to listen to rehearsals (in 1967 especially) whilst enjoying a beer by the river.

   I don’t think we’ve been to a restaurant with such attentive and happy staff in a long long time. The Swan was packed when we arrived, always a good sign, but often means you’re waiting for service. Not here, tbh I was trying to pay for parking at the train station on my phone and couldn’t cos we had so much attention drinks orders, discussing specials, fussing over the dog… . Thanks to our server, and all the others who came to say hello. Don’t know who the manager/owner is at the Swan but with that many happy staff they are clearly doing a great job. -
