Welcome to Sylvester’s Italian Chophouse. Located near the water in a beautiful 1932 historic building in the seaside community of San Clemente California.
We share a culinary interest, respect and appreciation for traditional Italian and French foods. The goal of keeping it simple with good breads, pizza, pasta and a variety of steaks, all paired with outstanding wines.
Our kitchen is comprised of a team that has cooked at top restaurants around the world. With experience in both fine and casual dining, we landed in the middle, on what San Clemente does best, “causally sophisticated”.

We had a very nice dining experience at Slyvesters. We sat at the bar, the restaurant is beautifully designed and appointed. The food was top notch. From the herbed focaccia bread to the short rib lasagna everything was excellent. The service at the bar was very good. We are excited to try more of the menu and will definitely return.

One thing I cannot stand at a restaurant, is when you’re not even half way through your appetizers, and your main entree arrives. It ruined the entire dinner.

The lasagna was delicious. We also enjoyed the skirt steak. The lemon cake for dessert was a lovely finish.

We have dined here several times and always enjoy. Menu is limited for Italian, yet diverse in offerings. Ambience is great, as well as delicious food and great bar. All servers are attentive.

Food was very high quality and prices were surprisingly reasonable. Ox tail pasta was excellent, as was the skirt steak. Ahi tuna and bone marrow appetizer was fantastic. Only glitch was that the main courses arrived while we were still eating the app, but manager quickly and graciously fixed the issue. We will definitely go back.

Sylvester’s is always a good choice! Love the service, drinks, and ambiance! I’ve never had a remotely negative experience! Great choice to bring people who haven’t experienced San Clemente!

It's set up as a bar with eating as an afterthought. Extremely noisy. Service and food mediocre at best.

The food was excellent except for the fish entre. It was not completely boneless even though it was supposed to be boned. It was very small and came with no sides. For $32 I expect at least one side. My advice is get the chicken or a steak so you won’t leave hungry. As far as ambience, the patio door was left open and the breeze coming in was off the ocean so quite cold. I would recommend they keep the door closed. Otherwise it’s a lovely spot for dinner.
