October 16, 1909-For the first time in their country’s history, American President William H. Taft and Mexican President Porfirio Díaz met for a summit in the El Paso-Juarez border; the land commonly known as El Chamizal. Flags were lowered and the borderland remained neutral territory.

A traditional, conservative luncheon was hosted by President Taft at the El Paso Chamber of Commerce followed by an opulent dinner served and presented by President Díaz in the Old Federal Customs building in Juarez. Private discussions were had and agreements were made.

TAFT DÍAZ serves as a testament that great things can flourish when you welcome others at your table.

While the service was attentive and courteous, the roasted cauliflower fell a bit short. It was difficult to eat due to it not being cooked all the way through. I would return to try different dishes but definitely skipping the cauliflower next time.

Soup was super salty. The gnocchi was okay and the dessert was disappointing. We got the mango cinnamon roll and I expected the mango to be incorporated in the cinnamon roll but it seemed like the cinnamon roll was similar to one purchased at a grocery store and the mango was just dumped on top. I could have done better especially with the price of dinner being pretty steep. I will not be returning.

It was the first time for the rest of the table (there were six of us) to visit Taft Diaz and I had really talked it up, from the most magnificent art installations that dropped from the ceiling like jelly fish to the intriguing food combinations and presentations. I was not disappointed and the entire table really enjoyed the food. We all had different dishes, from rib eye steak cooked to perfection, sea Bass, lobster spaghetti to gnocchi for the vegetarians. Tho e meal was topped off with homemade blueberry ice cream, which was more like a gelato and the perfect ending to a feast. Delicious!

The food was less than stellar. I don’t do very spicy, so I always ask, the waitress stated it wasn’t spicy, I’ve had places that will provide me with a taste of the chili sauce and I forgot to ask, that would have helped tremendously. It’s a lovely place I would give them another chance.

Brunch Burger was flavorless. The chilaquiles were dry. The service was slow for only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant.

Delicious food at a reasonable price. Oscar, my server, took great care of me the entire time. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Tonight I tried their take on a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and was not disappointed.
