This was my second time having dinner at Tan. The first time was in 2024 for a November birthday dinner and we had drinks in the bar downstairs (the passion fruit mezcalita was a standout) and then at dinner upstairs on the protected patio. I was with a group of chefs and the food received high marks. Prices were on the higher side and service was just okay. Patio heating was not great, so we were were a bit cold. The food and ambience was memorable, so when I needed to find a place for dinner last night, I returned with a group of friends. We had drink in the bar, which again was excellent, although happy hour gets loud and crowded. We had dinner reservations in the main dining area, but we didn't realize this was only accessible by stairs. Someone in our group had a broken leg, so since it would have been extremely difficult for her to climb the very long staircase up to the main dining area, they sat us in the bar area on the first floor for dinner. The ambience was lovely, however, there was no restroom on the first floor and getting up the stairs to use the restroom was not easily feasible. This was problematic. They need for the facilities to be accessible to all diners. The other major issue is that they didn't seem to have any dedicated waitstaff for the dining area on the first floor. The person who ended up taking our order was a busboy or server in training. Unfortunately, he didn't speak english so the language issue made it difficult to ask about the dishes or specials and we could only point to the items we wanted to order. There ended up being a mixup and the wrong dish came out. And then confusion ensued on what we ordered. When the entrees did arrive, it was delicious...but almost 90 minute wait, and not hot. It was served at lukewarm temperature. The bartender and manager(?) came to check on us and were very apologetic. They comped us our drinks and dessert. Overall, food and drinks were very good, service not so good.

We loved Tán! From the minute we got there until we left, it was a great experience. Our server Freddy was amazing. The food was amazing. The drinks were amazing. We sat in the lower dining area, which was cozy and much quieter than the upstairs area, so if you're looking for something intimate, ask to sit downstairs. It's a great place for really good, authentic Mexican food on the lighter, more unusual side, be sure and give Tán a try.

As we had visited tan multiple times and had a great experience , our expectations were not met, we were disappointed to see that the bottomless brunch options were limited now, and waiter said that if we decided to order from the menu the portions would be larger than the bottomless, to be honest Portions were quite small except for the Chilaquiles.

My girls and I celebrated 20 years of friendship ,a special milestone made even more memorable thanks to the wonderful experience we had! Camila was an amazing server!! so warm, welcoming, and attentive. She walked us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and shared her top recommendations, which we absolutely loved. Her kindness and thoroughness made us feel right at home, and we truly trusted her suggestions (which did not disappoint!). We had such a great time and are definitely coming back. Thank you, Camila, for making our celebration even sweeter!

I love Mexico City, I love Tulum. Both food destinations in their own rights. But you don’t have to go that far to get a taste of elite Mexican cuisine. Tán has blown away everyone from seasoned New York diners to friends from various parts of Mexico. Execution, plating, ambience, service - it will always be a comfortable and delicious experience. Just book it.

Very disappointed with the experience. The service was rushed throughout, We were trying to enjoy our time after work, but the server’s rushed and inattentive service made us feel so uncomfortable and to top it off, we were asked to go to the counter to pay instead of being given the bill at our table due to no internet in the back. While they gave an option for the receipt, the server never asked if we wanted to pay the service fee—just automatically added a mandatory 20% charge and message receipt to your phone number, even though our party was less than six people. Definitely not a great experience. One star only gave for Food - bone marrow and ceviche Amarillo good.

Food was good but service was disappointing. I made this reservation for my fiancés birthday and was really looking forward to it. We waited a while to get seated, even with a reservation. I had also called the day prior to add 1 more seat and they confirmed it was no problem but when we arrived it was not executed. Food took VERY long to come out and our waitress did not check in on us enough. We were all really tired and ready to go by the time the entrees came out. They offered free shots and comped the dessert but in the end they still added an automatic 20% tip...

It wasn't the fine dining experience we wanted. The music was loud, and it felt like an after work place with an odd vibe instead of a nice neighborhood or city destination place to go. The food was good but expensive.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Kathy. While we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the food, we’re truly sorry that the overall experience fell short of your expectations for fine dining. We regret that the atmosphere, including the loud music, didn’t provide the setting you were hoping for. We hope you'll give us another chance to provide a better dining experience in the future.

Tan is a must-visit! The stunning Tulum-inspired ambiance sets the perfect tone for an unforgettable meal. Every dish we tried—bone marrow, pumpkin soup, enchiladas, tuna tostada, octopus, and ceviche trio—was outstanding. The Oaxaca chocolate dessert is pure nostalgia for anyone who grew up with homemade hot chocolate. Service was top-notch, with Sous Chef Giancarlo personally checking in. The Mercado margarita’s hibiscus foam is next level. Great food, amazing drinks, and warm hospitality—can’t wait to go back!

Food is ok. Very small portions and very pricey. Limited time set at table and you are asked to leave.
