   Usually, this is one of my favorite restaurants, and I’m sure service was not as good as usual because it was Valentines weekend. I arrived in was approaching the table. I fell. Literally fell to the ground. I was in shoes with a lot of grip, but there was something on the floor I suppose and I fell. Somebody came and helped me and then it was 15 minutes before the waiter arrived to even offer me water or a drink. I fell in front of everyone and it took 15 minutes for him to come back and even offer me water. I asked to make sure that they would mop the spot and they never did because he felt that there was nothing actually there. I eat at tandem twice a month and I felt the treatment was not so kind tonight. The food was good, but we had to search for our waiter every time we needed him. I will stick to what I should’ve done and not go out on Valentine’s weekend when the goal seems to pack more tables rather than take care of the actual tables themselves.

   The food, as always, was fantastic -- we are vegetarians and so our general approach is to order several shared plates. We had the cauliflower (our favorite), the fritters, the risotto (maybe this was our favorite?), and the cheese plate. All were delicious. The cheese plate could have used slightly more than the 6 tiny crostini and 3 thick slices of cheese for the price; was a bit unwieldy. Ambiance of the main room was slightly off from normal, as they had clearly added many additional 2-tops to accommodate the Valentine's Day diners -- I can't blame them for that, it's a huge money maker. However, getting pushed into "overflow" seating, where the ambiance is non-existent, was a bit of a letdown considering we are not 1-visit customers. Service was very attentive, but a bit quick -- a little too obvious there were trying to turn tables over as fast as possible. Again, no shade for wanting to maximize revenue for the evening, but for a returning customer the difference in experience was noticeable. We'll be back, but probably not on a Valentine's Day.

   We've been to Tandem many times and always enjoyed our meals there. This time, we had three old favorites: the deviled eggs, the Caesar salad, and the short rib. We also tried the daily catch, which was sea bass with a truffle butter. It was excellent. We will return.

    One of our favorite restaurants never disappoints! Everything at Tandem is always top notch, from service to cocktails, superb wine list, great ambiance, and most importantly the food is excellent! The salmon dish is one of my favorites in the Triangle but what sets Tandem apart from others is their daily catch which changes day to day and is always spectacular. I love how they also have a monthly cocktail benefiting local charities and organizations with profits. Absolutely LOVE Tandem!
