Taxman CityWay is a gastropub and beer garden located in an 1850s renovated livery building, right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. This family friendly gastropub features three full service bars offering 20 rotating Taxman beers, local ciders and a wide variety of wine and spirits, as well as a pet-friendly outdoor patio. The seasonal menu highlights local and regional farmers and is anchored by a wide variety of local beef burgers, steaks, housemade pretzels, seasonal sandwiches, Belgian-style French fries (commonly referred to as “frites”) and Belgian-style Liege waffles.

Situated directly next door to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and several blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium, Taxman CityWay offers one of the largest patios in downtown Indianapolis and has a stage featuring live music throughout the spring, summer and fall. A second floor private event space features the lofted ceilings, a modern fireplace, private bar and old-world charm.

We would only return for the drinks. Salmon was burnt, fries were re-fried and soggy, tenderloin was blah, nothing was seasoned or had any flavor. There were only 3 tables/party’s there at the time and it still took awhile for the food to arrive. Servers did their best but, it was an overall waste of money.

This is one of my favorite places to take people, especially when I have multiple dietary needs in my friend group to consider. For me, I chose the Salmon BLT with a side of Mac and it was pretty tasty. The cocktails here are always a delight!

The burger was more done than I’d like and and the toast was very dry. The flavor was good though and the fries are excellent.

Every dish that the 3 people at our table had was WAY over salted. The walleye was suppose to have a Beur blanc sausage and didn’t we asked for some on the side and they brought hard butter. It was bad. The waitress was nice and attentive enough but because of 3 people less than satisfied with their meal we probably will pick a different place.

Service was great, beer was good, burger was good. The chicken sandwich could have used a stronger sauce but overall great meal before a pacers game

Brisket and the burger were not very good. Porkchop was excellent. Service was very slow. We had a bartender waiting on us, and he was behind the bar forever not taking care of our table. Spent a good amount of money for food that was honestly not good excluding the porkchop

This is my first review I believe at a restaurant ever. And here’s why you will never go back. We came in on a shift change. Server was friendly. Ordered a drink, appetizer + food at same time. Table came and sat next to us about 15 min after with different server + ordered an appetizer & meal. They received theirs in about 10 min when we still hadn’t received ours. Server never once came to our table in 30+ min (mind you it was 3:30pm - not busy) I had to flag down a table busser to find our server and told them about our app. At this rate we had been there about 40 min. App comes out about 5 min later (not fresh) but kept under a warmer. Ordered chicken tenders. Don’t. The breading was falling off and the BBQ sauce was terrible it tasted like mustard. I told our server that this was not barbecue sauce and he insisted that it was. I asked what it was made of and he said he didn’t know. And then there was Dijon in it. I’m assuming they made it in house and messed up the batch because I can assure you it was terrible. I am a good barbecue fan. Our food came out about three minutes after the appetizer . I had asked for my sandwich bread to not be toasted, but just warmed. My sandwich came out on a cold hard bun. I had also ordered an espresso martini and asked if it was a creamy or clear martini and she said clear. When infact it came out creamy which I went ahead and still consumed because at that point a whole experience was bad. The glass was sticky. This is my first review I believe at a restaurant ever. And here is why we will never go back. It wasn’t ad if it was just one thing that wasn’t good. The whole experience wasn’t good unfortunately.
