Chef Teiichi Sakurai, well-known as the founder of Teppo (1995) and Tei Tei (1998), opened Tei-An in 2008 at One Arts Plaza. Chef Sakurai continues the pursuit of introducing authentic Japanese culinary culture to Dallas through ancient techniques and years of mastering the fragile and sophisticated soba noodle.
Called "The crown jewel of Japanese dining in Dallas" by former Dallas Morning News restaurant critic Leslie Brenner, Tei-An continues to induct diners into the art of dining at a traditional, yet modern, Japanese soba noodle house.

De la part des éditeur·rice·s d'OpenTable: Tokyo-born chef Teiichi Sakurai helped introduce Japanese food and culture to Dallas starting in the '90s before opening this celebrated soba house in 2008. The intimate omakase counter surrounds a rock garden at the center, creating a shrine-like, very-Tokyo atmosphere for wagyu, sashimi, and other traditional Japanese fare. One thing's for sure: every meal from this six-time James Beard semifinalist must end with soba.

Entire experience was amazing. Every course was great. We will become regular customers here. The best part of the night was our waiter TJ. He provided great service and was clearly passionate about his job and the food.

Quite the dining experience! It was a great place to celebrate Valentine’s Day! It’s pretty pricy but the quality was great

We have been going to Tei-An and the food and service has always been outstanding. The white seaweed salad, carbonara noddles, tuna carpaccio, and so many more dishes that are simply amazing.

Ordered Dungeness crab with sea urchin risotto, Washu beef on stone, sashimi premium with additional Toro sashimi, soba sampler, nigiris, Pear lychee martini and Soba Ice cream with Kinako & Kuromitsu. They were all tasty, the must have for me is Washu beef on stone and Toro sashimi/nigiris and the soba ice cream! They just melt in your mouth! Great atmosphere and service, workers patiently explaining the menu to us Can't wait to visit again!

I was really excited to try Tei-An, however outside of the nigiri everything else was simply mediocre to say the least. The pork katsu lacked seasoning and had no flavor at all despite being fried well. The same goes for the chicken karaage. No sauce, just plain. The two-an tempura shrimp were good but could have been great if it was seasoned and was paired with a better dipping sauce. The bolognese could have been good but they were doing too much with the flavors truffle oil and Parmesan does not go together! It was certainly not worth the $300 bill!
