Terroni Adelaide, formerly the York County Courthouse, is a multi-level heritage structure built in 1852. Just inside the doors is the Enoteca with its towering columns, a great spot for cocktails. Beyond is the main dining room, with a sunlit atrium, fireplaces on each end and private rooms all serviced by an open kitchen where our chefs prepare traditional Italian fare. In summer, the secret garden patio opens for al fresco dining in the heart of the city.

Head down to the Cantina Wine Cellar where you will see the original courthouse cells now used to store our Italian wine. The second floor houses the grand Sala da Pranzo and Bar delle Carceri, named after the cells below. Il Covo degli Artisti, our third-floor space is a cosy lounge once home to The Arts and Letters Club where Canadian landscape painters “The Group of Seven” ate and drank in 1909.

    We were looking forward to this dining experience since we have seen so many good reviews about the restaurant. The food was good, however, our experience was dampened by the poor service. Our server did not introduce herself so we could not order for 20 mins. We flagged down two other servers who assured us our server was coming, however they did not. It was not until we caught the attention of the manager that we were able to put in our order and finally found our assigned server. The manager did get one of our orders wrong (we ordered the gnocci but received a different type of fungi pasta instead). Once we received the food, no one came in to check in on us. Finally, when we were trying to get the bill, again it took us a while to track down our server. Overall, a meal that we were looking so much towards became an unsatisfactory dining experience.

    I took a group of 10 for a holiday lunch. Our server, Carmin, was outstanding. Great suggestions and the food was delicious.

    The food and service at Terroni is outstanding. The specials are original and tasty. I love the place but it is very difficult to have a business lunch there. The music is too loud and everyone shouts to be heard.

    We are frequent customers at Terroni on Queen and have been a few times to the Adelaide location, The food is normally fairly consistent but tonight the food was somewhat below average. The main complaint would be how fast things were served without allowing time between courses. People were clearing plates before food was finished or they were waiting in the wings to grab our dishes. There was no breaks between appetizers and main course before dessert menus were given. Then our bill was dropped on the table while we were still having coffee. Feeling rushed is not an enjoyable dining experience,
