Dining at The Alden is not simply a meal. It is a full experience rooted in intention, warmth, and culinary excellence. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale and inviting. It feels refined without being pretentious, elegant yet comfortable, the kind of place that naturally makes you want to dress up and settle in. The experience begins with thoughtful touches like elevated popcorn and fresh bread while you watch the kitchen prepare everything in real time. Sitting at the chef’s counter makes the evening immersive and communal. You are not just eating. You are part of the process. The lobster bisque with butternut squash was flawless. Beautifully plated, generously portioned, and rich with lobster, it was comforting and refined at the same time. Every course that followed was executed with precision, including a perfectly prepared fish entrée paired seamlessly with wine. Dessert was equally stunning, a chocolate creation paired with ice cream and thoughtful accompaniments, each explained with care. What truly sets The Alden apart is the hospitality. The service was warm, knowledgeable, and genuine. The owner personally came over to speak with me, which made the experience feel special and deeply appreciated. That level of care is rare. I have dined at Michelin starred restaurants that did not deliver this level of consistency and connection. The Alden is Michelin recommended, but it is operating at a Michelin star level right now. Highly recommended.

We dined at Alden on New Year’s Eve and sat at the chef’s counter. We had reserved the tasting menu through OpenTable but received a call about an hour before our reservation letting us know that the restaurant would only be offering a three-course prix fixe menu for NYE ($100 per person, with an optional $60 wine pairing). While we were a bit disappointed—this being our first visit—we decided to proceed. We were initially seated at a two-top near the door, which was quite cold whenever it opened, and the tables were very close together, making it difficult to have a private conversation. We asked to be moved to the chef’s counter in the back, which the staff graciously accommodated, and we were much happier with that seating choice. The food overall was very good, with just a couple of minor issues. The lobster bisque could have been served a bit warmer, and my fiancé unfortunately found a large piece of shell in his bowl. We opted for the wine pairing, but the service fell short of expectations—typically, the wine bottles are presented and explained when the wine is served, which did not happen here. For the main course, our server actually guessed which wine was being served and then went to confirm with the bartender after we had already started eating, which was disappointing. That said, Chef Jared Hucks was a highlight of the evening. He was warm and personable, made a point to engage with everyone at the chef’s counter, and checked in multiple times to see how we were enjoying the food. He also generously sent out a couple of extra courses for us to try, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and would return to try the tasting menu, which was our original reason for booking.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent and friendly service, delicious food that was exquisitely plated. It was our first visit to The Alden, and we will definitely return! We started with the Winter Salad, followed by Norwegian Steelhead Trout and Balinese Red Snapper. For dessert, the pineapple Bread Pudding. And because it was a birthday dinner, the staff presented us with a scoop of delicious pineapple ice cream and a card. Lovely!

I recently decided to enjoy a rare solo dinner and chose The Alden, a decision that proved rewarding from start to finish. Dining alone, I opted for a seat at the bar, where I was warmly welcomed by Nick, the bartender. He took time to walk me through the cocktail menu, offering thoughtful recommendations that set a welcoming tone for the evening. I selected the “Love It Up,” a well balanced and enjoyable cocktail that served as a perfect introduction to the meal. I began with the JahJoy pork belly appetizer, which was expertly prepared, rich in flavor, and portioned just right to intrigue without overwhelming. For the main course, I chose the roasted lavender chicken. The chicken was tender and cooked with precision, complemented beautifully by the French onion jus, which added depth and savoriness to the dish. To complete the experience, I indulged in the bread pudding for dessert, a satisfying and memorable finish. The ambiance at The Alden is refined yet comfortable, and the service is attentive without being intrusive. Overall, the experience was exceptional, and I look forward to returning.

The menu feels like a scattered collage rather than a conversation. Dishes have nothing tying them together. The result is eclectic, not curated. It’s difficult to understand what the kitchen is trying to be. Individually, some elements work. Balinese snapper dish was very good (if small). Should this be on a menu next to ambrosia salad? No. Presentation doesn’t help clarify matters. Back to that a salad—plating was less than desired. Also, not everyone knows what ambrosia is, so tell beforehand, please. A clearer point of view with fewer detours, and more care in how food is put on the plate would go a long way toward coherence. Cocktail menu needs some thought. “Angry Elf” cocktail was just a mojito; nothing elf holiday about it. Golden hour cocktail was not as expected—no flavor of lemon or elderflower. The experience does not rise to the price. Hard to understand why Chase Sapphire restaurant. Waiter was nice. He and his finger were too close to food when explaining it.

Guests repeatedly describe it as intimate and special-occasion friendly, with attentive service, thoughtful wine pairings and chef visits that make evenings feel personal. Expect refined, seasonal American dishes and a warm, convivial atmosphere that suits anniversaries, Valentine’s dinners and celebrations. Plan for an evening reservation and consider the chef’s counter or a quieter weekday seating for the most intimate experience.

Portions vary by how you dine. Guests say the tasting menus are multi-course with smaller, artfully composed plates meant to be savored, while a la carte items and three-course prix fixe options are described as generous or ‘spot on’ by many. A few guests found some individual a la carte entrées smaller or expected more for the price, so if you’re particularly hungry consider sharing plates or ordering an extra course.

The Alden serves lunch on Thursdays and Fridays and offers dinner most evenings. Current posted hours are: Lunch, Thu & Fri 12:00 pm–2:00 pm. Dinner, Wed, Thu & Sun 5:00 pm–9:00 pm; Fri & Sat 5:00 pm–10:00 pm. Because the kitchen runs seasonal and special menus, it’s a good idea to check current hours or call before you go, especially around holidays or special events.

Many guests mentioned bringing kids and toddlers and enjoying celebratory meals. Seating options include main dining tables and the Chef’s Counter (which is more intimate and best for adults or older kids). Tables can be close together, so if you need accessible seating or extra space, call ahead to discuss accommodations, accessibility specifics aren’t detailed online.

The best time depends on the vibe you want. For a quieter, more relaxed dinner choose an earlier seating or midweek (Wed or Thu); many guests praised calm weekday dinners. If you want a lively, celebratory energy, Friday and Saturday nights, and holiday evenings like Valentine’s Day or NYE, are busier and more festive. Lunch service is offered Thu–Fri for a daytime option with lighter crowds. Reservations are recommended for peak nights and tasting menus.

The Alden offers a few distinct seating experiences: a main dining room with table seating and a bar area, plus the Chef’s Counter, an intimate counter seat where you can watch the kitchen and enjoy a seven-course tasting. Guests also reference open-kitchen seating and bar/counter views that make dining interactive. The restaurant accepts private parties, so off‑room or group arrangements are possible with advance planning.

The Alden’s ambience is warm, convivial and contemporary, a fine‑dining feel without pretension. Guests praise attentive, knowledgeable staff, the open kitchen and the chef’s personal touches that create a welcoming, celebratory mood. It can get livelier and a bit noisy later in the evening, while weekday and early dinner seatings are described as more relaxed. Overall it’s ideal for food-focused dates and special occasions.

The Alden is busiest on Friday and Saturday nights and during special occasions/holidays (Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, holiday brunches), when guests report lively, packed service. Quieter times include weekday dinners (especially Wed/Thu) and lunchtime service on Thu–Fri. Guests also note that evenings can get louder later, so an earlier reservation will feel more relaxed.
