We’re planning a New Year’s Eve to remember at The Alfred Tennyson. Join us for a sumptuous 3 course set menu in the Restaurant and then party the night away into the early hours with a live DJ in the pub. If you are a party of 10-14, you may be allocated in our Boardroom. This experience price will be £65 per person which includes a glass of Champagne, 3 courses plus access to the party afterwards. A discretionary service charge will be added to the final bill on conclusion of the meal. Open until 1am. The fourth and final instalment of the Cubitt House Eats With series brings MasterChef 2018 finalist and Head Chef at Maison François, Matthew Ryle, to The Alfred Tennyson. Known for his refined yet approachable cuisine and mastery of classic French recipes, Matthew will curate a three course feast served around shared dining tables in the main restaurant. Guests will enjoy a welcome drink courtesy of Hayman's Gin and take home a signed copy of Matthew’s cookbook. Tickets are £75, with an optional wine flight available on the day. A discretionary 15% service charge is applied to the final bill.

Food was great but when I booked I was given a choice of bar or restaurant but when we arrived we were put in the bar which was busy and noisy and cramped. I was told they sit people where they can depending on how busy they are. That's fine if you're aware.

Service was great, but the food wasn’t prepared. Two ordered the beef cheeky that wasn’t flake, fall apart, it was very tough. Chip cold, and with a new batch; they were undercooked.

It was always our London go to, no more. Food was bad, cold, poor quality. Sent one item back. Clearly the current cook staff has no clue how to prepare quality good food. It’s ashamed since the location and setting is so nice. Don’t waste your money here. On a positive note, our server Ellie was wonderful and apologetic for the poor quality of the food.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the greatest experience at the Alfred Tennyson. Whilst the food was nice tasting, it was cold, which was really disappointing! We were also surprised when the scallop starter arrived, and it was literally only one scallop - At a gastro pub that didn’t seem sufficient or value for money! Where we were sitting was also extremely loud, which made it difficult to hear each other. The staff however were helpful.

Super noisy, very cramped seating. Was told on arrival to go upstairs then we were sent downstairs. Then we were told table being prepared and which table it was and then someone else took that table. All a bit chaotic. Quite a few menu choices were unavailable. Hoping for a quintessential British pub experience for visiting friends but a bit disappointing. Quite good value though and roasts were good.
