The Barre is doing a great job as a pre-theatre/concert dinner venue. The service is reasonably quick and the wait staff friendly. The happy hour cocktails are a bonus! I like the way the menu is being updated relatively frequently, and there is good choice in the wine list.

The happy hour drinks specials were a welcome surprise for our pre-theatre dinner on Thursday night. The menu has changed since I was there last and is somewhat limited in terms of the options provided. Whilst my duck dish was lovely, the lamb shank was less impressive. The servers were all friendly, prompt and attentive.

Whilst we have had many good experiences at this restaurant, last night was disappointing over all for my husband and I who were celebrating his father's 86th birthday. Thankfully they loved their duck but both our meals were not enjoyable. The ravioli was smothered in sauce and pasta gluggy' his schnapper more bones than meat with an excess of fennel garnish on top. The raddicchio salad more a big wedge of iceberg and uninspiring dressing. The young waiter stood accidently on my toes twiceunder the table without apologising as he served us, at different times.Value for money was not achieved this time unfortunately. We have dined there often in the past and are noting serves smaller, cost cutting with less protein and more garnish . Rethinking our whole dining choices now when going to the theatre.

we ate before the theatre on a Thursday evening. The restaurant itself is pleasant. The wait staff were very attentive and obliging. There was a mistake on the bill at the end of the meal, but it was rectified immediately. The main problem was the food. It was not good value for money. It was all overpriced. The snapper tasted nice, but there were so many bones and barely any flesh. The mushroom ravioli was covered in such a spicy sauce that it drowned out the flavour of the ravioli and its filling. The menu was very limited. The main courses were all in the mid-S30.00 and with a side the meal was at least $50.00. This wouldn't have been so bad if the main had been worth its money.

The only place we could find inside the arts building for dinner. Over priced for what we ate.

We loved our meal and the whole experience at The Barre restaurant. The service was very friendly and professional with food arriving quickly. We both shared a plate of the grilled flatbread with hummus for starters, very fresh & tasty. Then we ordered the Confit of duck leg which was delicious. Dessert we chose the Eton mess which was a bit small to share but absolutely fresh with gorgeous berries.
