Welcome to the Black Bull.
Tucked away in rural Lancashire, between cloud topped hills, green fields, rolling pastures, and lots of cows... sits The Black Bull Inn.
Nestled in the picturesque village of Old Langho, our stone building has been here since the 1500s. Steeped in history it has it's own warm welcome to travellers from far and wide.
Our menu is fresh, local and has a nice balance of those "pub classics" but brought up to date in modern and inventive ways.
Dog friendly in the bar area or garden, and plenty of cosy seating available in front of our roaring fires, in The Library, or in our gorgeous, beamed, renovated Fire Barn.

We had a fabulous Sunday dinner (platter for two). There was the perfect amount of food, without feeling overwhelmed. The steak was cooked to perfection and the chicken was perfect. The service was fabulous and we were checked on throughout. We will definitely be back!

Restaurant was very busy with Sunday lunch service. Service very slow. Had to wait an hour from arrival to eventual delivery of food. Food was ok, but a little underwhelming. Standard Sunday lunch fare, but reasonably well cooked. Veggies limited and plainly cooked. Recommended wine choice was disappointing. Staff were doing their best but were struggling to keep on top of the number of customers/orders. After all the Masterchef publicity, I had expected better, both in terms of menu & service.

The food was very good and the service brilliant; I have never known such quick service. They could do with a bigger car park!

This was our first visit. We eat out every week and enjoy finding new places. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We valued the owner Rebecca greeting us and we felt the pace of service was just right. The menu was quite comprehensive and there were specials as well. My husband’s chicken starter really enjoyed his chicken starter but my only negative of the whole night was my starter. I ordered the scallops from the specials and was so looking forward to it, however it was merely 3 average sized scallops with a little dressing on a large plate, for £18 I felt it was poor value for money, I had finished it before my husband had even finished his first piece of chicken ( I tasted his and it was very good). Our steak mains were great. The star of the experience for us was the lovely French sommelier, sorry to have forgotten his name, but I am hopeless with names. He was very attentive and knowledgeable about his wines. We ordered a Chablis and he came back with a grand cru for a little more which we ordered, it was good. We will certainly be visiting here again. Due to its location and ambience and its star Masterchef winning Dan Merriman (Who offers special tasting evenings) I feel this could very soon be a fine dining restaurant. Thank you all.

We dined here after being given a voucher & watching one of the chefs win Masterchef. The whole experience was excellent. The welcome on a wet windy evening , the ambiance of the dining room with log burner & the service was great . Just enough rest between courses & lovely smiles . The bill for two people , three courses & six glasses of wine came to £130 which did include curried monkfish special main course. This is in the higher end of pub prices but by no means extortionate & in our opinion most definitely worth it. We would highly recommend to eat here. Congratulations to all the staff for making it a happy evening with added bonus of a visit from the cutest puppy I have seen for years 🥰

Everyone was lovely and the atmosphere was great. I don’t know what happened to or order but we waited over an hour for food. Which was very nice when we finally got it but is was about 8.45 which was also late to be eating. We were booked it at 7.15.
