The only downside was that we booked the table for 7:30pm but upon arrival we were told it was booked for 8pm. No major drama but odd as I had the Open Table reservation on my phone. That said the food was superb and the service was excellent too - highly recommend this to all,

Relaxed feel to the place with courteous and helpful staff . The quality of the food was good . The room was dark and a bit oppressive

Overall we had a great meal for a birthday at the Black horse. We sat in the bar which was really cosy with the fire on. Food was absolutely delicious and staff where attentive and very friendly. The selection of food was good with the option to order from the bar or restaurant menus. I will definitely be going back - asap!

An excellent evening all round. The service was fantastic; not rushed but not left too long when wanting additional drinks etc., just the right balance, and all very friendly, hospitable and personable. The food was great, all expertly prepared, however some of the portions were a little on large side meaning there was no room for desert, which was a shame. I found the main menu was a little limited for my tastes, and was missing some of the basics in favour of fancier fare. A suggestion would be to combine the restaurant and pub menus, both are pretty similarly priced and offered at the same time anyway. That would both expand the range available to dinners, plus it gives you the option of eating the restaurant food in the bar if you like, as that can sometimes have more atmosphere. All in all, an excellent dining experience, we will be back.

Excellent meal, excellent service, all faultless. I had the Burn’s night special, first time I’ve had haggis- delicious, husband’s steak perfect, waitresses just the right mix of formality and friendliness. We’ll be back.

The food & service were excellent. We had a really enjoyable evening. Only one of us had been before & we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
