Located in historic Lower Mills in Dorchester, The Bowery Bar is a neighborhood tavern focusing creative modern comfort food, a whimsical cocktail program, and local craft beer offerings. We are committed to our guests’ experience and being an integral part of our local community. Our indoor dining space and bar is cozy and warm; the vintage décors hand-picked to encapsulate a space that makes you feel transported to simpler days.     Everything was great for the most part, but we found two hairs in one of our appetizers after we had eaten the majority of the plate. We weren’t offered the option to have the appetizer taken off of our bill, and they instead brought us another plate. This would have been fine had we not already nearly finished the original, as nobody really wanted more at that point. This is not the first time I have found hair in my food at this restaurant. Additionally, the server cleared the table at the end of our lunch before everyone was done with their food. As a result, someone was not able to finish their food. Other than these things, the food and drinks were delicious and the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas!

    This place is highly rated, so perhaps they’ve had some turnover or they were short staffed, but it was a gigantic disappointment. Food was mediocre at best. Wings were chewy and tasted like a dirty grill. Bacon on the sandwich was fried, which is the hallmark of a lazy kitchen staff. Even the table next to us commented that their food (potatoes) tasted like an old fryer oil. Service was kind but ineffective. Drinks went dry twice, never came back to ask how the food was, and our entrees came 5 minutes (I don’t know how this is possible unless they’re par cooking things) after we ordered, well before we were even half way finished with our appetizers. Maybe it was an off day, but I would strongly advise against Bowery.

    Sandwiches were good, service excellent, but music so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. We will continue to have dinner here on occasion.

    Both dishes we ordered had issues. The eggplant dish had little to sauce on it and the grilled cheese/tomato soup dish was obscenely over spiced. Almost every time we come here, our experience is just average to poor for the food while the service is always excellent.  It’s just mediocre pub food, which we get lured into going to again when they update the menu and the food is still mediocre.

    First I would like to say my wife and I knew about this location when it was known as another eatery. We rediscovered it shortly after the Bowery Bar opened. If haven’t been, I would recommend make a visit. Bowery Bar has a really nice, clean atmosphere. The drinks are great and the menu is interesting with plenty to choose from without being overwhelming. The staff if friendly and can help to make suggestions. From the outside you wouldn’t know it but I think the best part of this restaurant is the outdoor patio that makes you feel like you’re sitting in an outdoor oasis. In the winter they set up plastic bubble igloos so you can sit outside if you want.

    Great food and experience as always. I had the truffle burger and tater tots, and both were incredible.
