The Canteen is a full-service neighbourhood restaurant in Downtown Dartmouth, serving up chef-inspired seasonal fare for lunch, brunch and dinner. At the helm in the kitchen is award-winning chef and co-owner Renee Lavallee.     I joined my daughter for lunch. The service was very good but I found the food mediocre and very expensive. I also found the noise level uncomfortably high.

    Todays potato leek soup out was the best we have ever tasted ! so good, we brought extra home 💗 Haddock burgers were also tasty 👍

    I love the Canteen! When I go out the canteen is my first choice. Food, ambiance, Rene and Doug are two Nova Scotia foodies who support local with love.

    Seamless experience from the moment we arrived. Our server was attentive and very kind. We went for my husband’s birthday and brought our three kids. Will definitely be going back

    Went there to celebrate my Twin sister’s birthday and was not recognized for birthday not sure if there should be an option on booking if it’s not noticed. Also was served a bad batch of white wine. Food was amazing.

    The Canteen is one of our favourites and always delivers an exceptional experience. Their famous Crobster roll is back for the holidays so now is the time to get it. I crave their kale Caesar salad and get it almost every time I'm there. The service is always warm and welcoming.
