   Restaurant came recommended as a nice upscale restaurant to enjoy good food and have a romantic evening. Made reservations to enjoy a nice evening. Drinks took over 20 minutes to get but were delicious. When the waiter delivered the menu he began by saying the following items were not available and then caught himself and said, “It’s quicker to tell you what is on the menu and proceeded to tell us on 3 things were still available, disappointing but ok. Placed our order and poor guy comes back to say in fact 1 of those is not available. What would you like?” Seriously! Guess the 1 non vegetarian option you have left. This was a long date night in the planning and this level of service is unacceptable at such a restaurant. And honestly the food was not at a level to justify the cost, the steak was not really above a standard steakhouse quality. Waiter was ok, not his fault. Drinks were good but took forever. Menu was non-existent and quality was not exceptional.

   After quite a few years, we ventured back to The Chalkboard. We were glad that we did. Fairly busy Saturday night but you couldn't tell - the service was impeccable and the food was outstanding and well paced. The head chef even came out to greet us which we thought was a great touch. All four of us commented that we will be heading back quicker than our last visit.

   I enjoyed everything about our dinner. Food & service was wonderful. It is a little dark because there are not a lot of windows and is below the ground a bit like a basement. This works well if you are going for a Romantic, peaceful dinner. It’s probably not where I would pick for a fun party scene or energetic group dinner.

   This place is a very special jewel. Hidden in the basement of a hotel and very well decorated. The atmosphere is romantic and the service was great!! The beef Wellington was absolutely Amazing! Very good flavor and worth the price. We highly recommend this place and we will be back.

   We decided to try something different for New Year’s Eve dinner. And we were so pleased that we did! Right away, the service was perfect. We had reservations and our table was ready. We had Caesar salads, shared the braised short ribs, and the creme brûlée. The food was excellent. The service was just right. Our waiter, Kevin, was great. The ambiance was just how I remembered, quiet, unhurried, and relaxing.

    To begin with they didn't have our reservation through Open Table. This was the 2nd straight time having this issue using Open Table. Service was slow, especially getting drinks. Server seemed bothered he was even there. Fish special Sea Bass over Risotto was like eating a Salt Lick, Salmon with Orzo that was like mush. Creme Brulee had a texture problem. Cheese Board was the one positive.
