   Went for a valentines meal - a 3 course meal for £35. Oh my goodness, the food was divine! Have been to the chequers several times and this was the best meal I’ve ever had there. I had mussels for a starter - a huge portion and went for the Cornish Market fish for my main. It was sea bass with kale and samphire and the most delicious crunchy roast potatoes. It was in a lemon/cream sauce. It was amazing. Passion fruit cheesecake to finish. Also very good. Staff were very attentive. The front of house staff are a credit to the establishment. Great place and to see the pub bar area so busy with locals was fantastic when you see so many pubs closing down. Thoroughly recommend.

   Cosy, warm and friendly. Roaring open fires on a cold rainy day. Nice variety of wine and beer. This chef knows what he’s doing and his menu covers all tastes while being seasonal and conscious, not too frilly, but tasty and artful. The food is of the highest quality and is beautifully presented and expertly served. The bar is jolly and the staff are all so helpful and knowledgeable. Even the music is nicely curated. We love every aspect of this country pub that’s also an excellent restaurant! Thanks and cheers, Chequers Fingest!

   This was my first time at the Checkers Fingest, and I was so impressed with how well we were received and looked after by the staff. The food was exceptional, and the recommendations on point. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend this restaurant in the future and look forward to my next visit. Thank you all for a lovely evening.

   We had a delightful Sunday lunch at the Chequers today. It was as good as I’ve ever had in a Pub/Restaurant the Wild Mushrooms starter was a delight and the Roast Beef that followed was excellent, with a good selection of vegetables, even the roast potatoes were good and they are normally a disappointment when you’re out of a home setting. The staff were efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you to all the staff. We will be back again.

   Sunday lunch was good. Beef was excellent. Only issue it wasn’t warm and potatoes were a little tough. Staff replaced my dinner when I asked for it to be heated up with a fresh plate which was also like warm. I was offered a discount which was accepted.
