   It was great to see Clifton buzzing when we came over for a late meal om Sunday - service was excellent but the food needs a bit of improvement to for example justify the most expensive item on the menu - 25 quid for a small piece of plaice that was a bit too oily but fish and chips were decent and cauliflower special was actually pretty solid so the chef clearly knows how to make good food. All in all - great to see our local pub being on the right track. And - the service was great even though you could tell that all the staff were exhausted when we came at 4pm. Thank you!

   Nice pub but service was slow and food came out not as warm as I would have liked it. Interiors could use a bit of a refresh.

   Lovely old pub in a quiet street. Great Sunday lunch - trad roast and fish/chips. Lovely service from attentive staff. Sat in conservatory - nice and bright. Will return for sure

   This pub does not shout its presence, the entrance is quite understated. As you enter the Clifton presents as an old school, cheery London pub, I am so envious, this must be a real asset to the local community and I suspect it is packed on fine summer evenings. We arrived on a Saturday evening in late January and the welcome was a warm as the cosy interior. We were ushered to a lovely table in the conservatory section and promptly offered drinks and menus. The food was good- comfort food with home made pies, (steak and Guinness, and fish pie were the specials on our visit), plus standard pub favourites including quality (sourced from local providers) sausages and mash. We were given time to make our choices but when ready, our older was taken promptly. The wine (Pinot Noir) was excellent and the food delicious. To be honest this is a good, local pub and not exceptional in that sense- but what sets it apart is the warmth and engagement of the serving staff. From the moment we arrived the two women on duty went out of their way to make our celebration (a birthday) feel really special. Although strangers we were greeted and treated as friends. Nothing was too much trouble and after we had finished we were left to chat and finish our coffees with minimal fuss. For a group of three women of a certain age, the ambiance was perfect. The surroundings felt safe, the other clientele mostly comprised couples and families, and the atmosphere was calm but had a lively busy feel that perfectly suited the occasion. Parking was easy and the short walk to the pub enlivened by our coo’s of pure house envy! We had a fantastic evening and although a little distant from our usual haunts, would definitely recommend and return. Thank you to everyone who made our outing such a success.

   Food was very good and tasty and of good quality- the down side the bowls they served it in were very cold which meant the Sunday roasts we ordered were served warm - the condiment were offered after food presented - rather than proactively before - therefore I had eaten half my beef before the house radish arrived . Otherwise lovely place food and staff .

   Delicious roast beef Sunday lunch but sad to see portions are smaller this visit and not to have the cauliflower cheese which was amazing!

    loved the food it was delicious and well priced as well Atmosphere was very nice too and staff were very friendly and helpful will definitely come back again
