The Commoner in Downtown Pittsburgh is open for business!

At our gastropub, we don’t distinguish between commoners and kings; we just want to feed the good people of Pittsburgh. In the restaurant, seasonal menus add a modern flair to classic comforts, complemented by a robust selection of local beers and craft spirits. It’s all served in an industrial-inspired setting in downtown Pittsburgh. Come and join us for an uncommonly good time.

The duck confit hash was delicious. The sweetness of the apples and cherries mixed with the savory Brussels sprouts and perfectly Poached egg along with perfectly cooked duck made my day start with perfection

We recently dined at The Commoner and had an excellent experience. Our server, Scott, was outstanding. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure all our needs were met promptly. The food was delicious, and Scott's recommendations were spot on. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a great meal. Overall, the service at The Commoner, especially from Scott, was top-notch, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Also, the potatoes as an appetizer may have been the best thing I’ve tasted in my 26 years of living.

We really enjoyed the 4 course tasting menu for Valentine’s Day. It was our first time dining at the commoner but we will absolutely be going back!

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. My wife and I ate there for breakfast and returned for dinner on the same day. Both times the food was the best food we’ve had in years! My wife is vegetarian, and she had the best vegetarian meal she’s ever had. She even got emotional on her first bite! When we arrived for dinner, they treated us like VIP status. Not sure why, but they brought wine and an appetizer right when we sat down, and it was on the house! One of the finest (if not the finest) restaurant(s) in Pittsburgh!

Drinks were excellent and although it was a very small menu the food was very good. Also felt like enough variety that you could find something even though there were only ~5 entrees.

The Commoner was such a pleasant surprise. I’m a self proclaimed foodie and enjoy trying new restaurants in different cities and this did not disappoint. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious and Gillian provided wonderful service. I’m always looking for new and interesting dishes and the Cheesecake Custard was out of this world. What an incredible take on a popular dessert. Highly recommended.

The appetizers were great. We had spicy crab and crispy potatoes. Service was spot on. The main dish was very salty.
