The Commoner in Downtown Pittsburgh is open for business!

At our gastropub, we don’t distinguish between commoners and kings; we just want to feed the good people of Pittsburgh. In the restaurant, seasonal menus add a modern flair to classic comforts, complemented by a robust selection of local beers and craft spirits. It’s all served in an industrial-inspired setting in downtown Pittsburgh. Come and join us for an uncommonly good time.

The appetizers were great. We had spicy crab and crispy potatoes. Service was spot on. The main dish was very salty.

We have been to the Commoner several times, but this was possibly our best visit ever. We were in a bit of a rush, so as soon as they seated us, we let our server (George) know that we were ready to order. We had our piping hot plates of delicious food in front of us literally less than ten minutes later. It was incredible! So glad we went to the Commoner for a quick pre-show meal. It couldn't have been better.

The wedge salad and stripling were delicious. Would have like a broader wine selection by the glass.

Delightful evening! Somehow (Opentable?) they knew it was my birthday and had a really charming card signed but a number of the staff with a lovely message. I kept it to show my kids how to write a nice birthday message! It’s January, so I enjoyed a N/A cocktail that was quite good. Food was very solid; brussel sprouts and Maitake (Hen-of-the-wood mushrooms on barley risotto) were terrific. Entire service staff was great!

The food was OK but overseasoned (brussel sprouts were swimming in an overpowering balsamic vinegar glaze), the port belly was mostly fat and the deserts were a strange take on old favorites.

Excellent food and fantastic service at a reasonable cost. We went mid Saturday morning and it wasn't extremely crowded but a reservation would help. Filling meal and chill vibes.

My friend and I ate here for restaurant week and both got the salmon as our entree. When we received it, it wasn’t cooked & still looked raw. We let the waiter know and he quickly sent us a new one that was very good and they staff was extremely apologetic. They were very sweet and attentive and even took $20 off the bill. I really appreciate restaurants that put the customer first & overall this was a pleasant experience & I would highly recommend :)
