Booked a table in the barn on a lunchtime .. great choice of menu in immaculate surroundings .. room was very warm and cosy considering the outside temperature ( freezing) !!! Service was excellent & so was the food .. staff very friendly & professional.. would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back !!!

I’ve visited The Cross Hands a couple of times before that’s why I chose to dine there again today. Overall my visit was just perfect . The food was excellent. The service outstanding. There is a car park on site. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon.

This has been our go to restaurant for several years both for lunch and dinner. We have introduced many friends to it who agree the food, ambiance and service is excellent. Today the mussels were super tasty, the calves liver beautifully cooked as usual and the veggie burger was surprizeingly tasty (first time try) Puds are always great. What a difference it makes when food is cooked "in house" rather than mass produced and shipped in then reheated or microwaved. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

After an hour’s walk on a misty betwixmas morning, myself, husband and trusty black lab Jack, settled into a cosy corner of the bar for lunch (booked in advance given the time of year). Despite the ‘not wanting to eat for a month’ feeling post Christmas turkey, the walk and perusing the varied menu did the trick in building up our appetites! Having seen the list of desserts, we decided to skip the small plates despite how tempting they were. I had the lamb shank, washed down with a warming glass of Merlot. The lamb was everything you’d want from a perfectly cooked shank - meat melting off the bone, coupled with fluffy Parmesan and garlic mash, red cabbage and a delicious sauce. My husband chose the cheddar soufflé which was gooey perfection accompanied by potatoes and greens. The presentation of both dishes was excellent. For dessert, I went for the vanilla and maple cheesecake with salted caramel sauce whilst my husband had the sticky toffee pudding with a specially made for him sticky toffee sauce (the menu had a brandy sauce but my husband doesn’t consume any alcohol) and ice cream. This was also delicious. Again, both desserts were beautifully presented with redcurrant and blackberry garnishes. The staff were attentive to the perfect degree, the bar area was clean, tidy and nicely laid out. The complimentary still or sparkling water was a nice touch. Overall the meal and experience was 5 star. We will definitely be back, maybe even with the teenagers! Would thoroughly recommend!

Amazing food, the cheddar souffle with leek in rich cream sauce is so so tasty, presented perfect, my friend had belly of pork looked so good, you won't be disappointed, you get what you pay for. I had cheese cake for dessert nicely presented with small rich flavours, perfect amount of food. I live very far away but it's worth the journey. Lovely friendly staff, beautiful decor. Perfect.

Excellent meal, sadly Festive menu did not include the regular liver dish, which hopefully will return after the festive season, the mussels were a reasonable substitute! Service was excellent and very attentive
