Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

    Luke warm food came before the drinks and within 15 minutes of arriving ! Poor service and equally poor food.

    Visited york last year and I had a great roast dinner.on this visit was not impressed

    We ordered French onion soup, pork cheek to start which was delicious. Me and my partner both had the fillet steak with truffle and Parmesan fries, onion rings and mac n cheese everything was 10/10 no faults. Steak cooked perfectly. For desert I had the baked Alaska and my partner had sticky toffee pudding both were fantastic! Jonathan our server was amazing too!

    Food was amazing, service was even more amazing they were friendly and efficient. Bit pricey but worth it

    This was by far the best meal we have had in years - not an exaggeration. Everything from the service to the unbelievably good food (the fillet steak is well worth it) was incredible. Me and my fiance barely spoke as the food was that good. 10/10 will be coming back next time we are in town.

    Not the greatest steak me and wife have had. Bang average. Food came out very very quick.
